WWE News: Update On Vince McMahon’s Feelings After Backlash, More Stars Getting Called Up?

The WWE has continued with the brand split for one month now, and the success seems to be a bit one-sided. At least right now, because injuries and booking decisions consistently cost WWE Raw from advancing week after week. On the first episode of Monday Night Raw post-WWE Draft, Sasha Banks won the Women’s championship and Finn Balor became the no. 1 contender to the WWE Universal title. He defeated Roman Reigns in the main event that evening.

WWE Raw’s future was set. Balor and Banks were on pace to help the red brand get off to a great start in this new era of pro wrestling. When it seemed too good to be true, Banks dropped the title to Charlotte at SummerSlam due to nagging injuries. Balor also had to relinquish the championship nearly 24 hours after winning it due to a severe shoulder injury that required surgery. At a moment’s notice, Monday Night Raw’s big advantage in the “ratings war” immediately diminished.

Meanwhile, on the blue side, things look bright. AJ Styles is the WWE World Champion. Becky Lynch won her first championship in the WWE after defeating five other women at Backlash. The Miz and Dolph Ziggler competed in an instant classic at Backlash, with the Miz winning in a cheap way to retain his Intercontinental belt. Rhyno and Heath Slater proved how to properly book a babyface when they won the Smackdown Tag-Team titles against the newly-heel team, the Usos.

Thus far, Smackdown Live is winning the brand war. They are building new stars while keeping the anchors of their program stable. It does help that it only lasts two hours, so there is less time to fill with meaningless drivel. As for WWE Raw, that’s mostly what they produce. From an outsider’s perspective, it just seems lazy week after week. Backlash was a very successful pay-per-view, but does that alleviate all the worries from WWE officials in recent weeks? According to Daily Wrestling News, Vince McMahon is still not happy with the results from his programs as of recently.

“It will be very interesting to see how tonight’s WWE RAW comes off as Vince McMahon was said to be especially bothered by last week’s TV shows, even though it was a holiday week and those are often booked as throw-away episodes. Vince was reportedly holding a meeting with writers and producers later in the week due to the concern over creative with both brands.

“On a related note, Vince still wants more veteran former WWE Superstars brought back to help with the roster depth as we go into the fall TV season.”

The report also mentions the want for more NXT superstars to get called to add to that depth McMahon is reportedly wanting. Is the CEO wrong for believing this way? Smackdown Live could benefit from a couple more wrestlers, but they are succeeding with the roster they already have. Curt Hawkins and Shelton Benjamin still have to debut on television. Their tag-team division is sky high, and the women are doing much better than initially expected.

Those that know McMahon very can’t say anything bad about him, usually. Kevin Owens recently talked about Vinny Mac and the new rapport they have. Owens elaborated and said he seems intimidating, but now he goes directly to him when he needs to talk. McMahon just wants the best out of his products.

For example, when the New Day started to really get popular, he remained behind them and very supportive. When his WWE shows aren’t doing well, then he wants answers as to why and how they can solve the problem. Ratings are not good for WWE Raw. The product has faltered in consecutive weeks. How should they fix it?
