WWE Rumors: Shane McMahon May Not Be Featured On WWE Television For Much Longer

WWE changed dramatically when Shane McMahon returned to the company in late-February. Over the past five months, Shane’s influence has not only changed WWE programming, but there have been reports of Shane learning everything he can behind the scenes in WWE. All the while, he’s been in the middle of a power play with his sister Stephanie on WWE television.

Since his return to WWE, Shane O’Mac has been considered an on-air personality. While he has been acting as the power figure on Raw and SmackDown over the past few months, he hasn’t had a specific role backstage that is keeping him with WWE for the foreseeable future. Shane is working with WWE personnel because it is what he wants to do.

However, this week’s edition of Monday Night Raw dropped a bombshell for next week’s intense week of programming. During Raw’s main event segment, Vince McMahon named Shane the “Commissioner” of SmackDown, which makes him the rival of Stephanie and Raw.

The core of WWE programming will be the “civil war” within the McMahon family and within WWE to put on the better show for the WWE Universe. Under the brand extension, WWE has become Raw vs. SmackDown and Shane versus Stephanie. You’d think WWE assigning Shane as the figurehead of SmackDown would keep him in WWE for the long-term, but there is a rumor claiming that his time on WWE programming could be coming to an end.

According to a rumor from CageSideSeats.com, Shane McMahon has told some of his friends that he isn’t sure exactly how much longer he’ll be featured on WWE television. Now, there is more than one way to read that rumor.

If Shane is telling people in his personal life that he’s not going to be on camera for WWE much longer, does that mean he’s no longer needed creatively? Are WWE officials taking him off WWE television or does Shane not want to be on WWE programming anymore? There must be a reason because there is much more story to tell for Shane’s character.

When the power struggle for WWE began between Shane and Stephanie McMahon a few months ago, many people assumed that Triple H was going to play a major factor down the line. The expectation was we’d see Shane vs. Triple H at Summerslam or even Wrestlemania 33 for complete control of WWE, which would put an effective end to Shane McMahon on WWE television or a final fitting end to The Authority angle.

However, all of that speculation was before WWE announced the upcoming WWE Draft and brand split. All of that change will occur over the next week or so, but Triple H is nowhere to be found, and WWE Creative has set up Shane vs. Stephanie for the long haul.

If Shane’s time on WWE programming has a sooner expiration date than expected, something big is going to go down over the next several months to write off the Shane McMahon character that has the loyalty of the WWE Universe. No matter what happens over the next several months, Shane and Stephanie are going to reveal their General Managers for Raw and SmackDown next week on Monday Night Raw only one night before the WWE Draft.

The rumor mill is claiming that Daniel Bryan will be Shane’s choice, which would do an excellent job of bringing in a face authority figure as the foil to Stephanie while allowing Shane to step away from WWE programming for a week or however long he needs to be away. There are ways to write Shane off WWE television without writing him off completely. It seems that Shane is setting his own sail while he’s in WWE, so just keep an eye out for the winds of change.
