WWE Hopeful That Ronda Rousey Will Wrestle At ‘WrestleMania 33’

It’s recently been reported that WWE is interested in having UFC star Paige VanZant appear at this coming August’s SummerSlam event. But it looks like VanZant isn’t the only female UFC star that WWE is interested in.

Anthony DiMoro of Yahoo! Sports has reported that WWE is interested in getting Ronda Rousey on the WrestleMania 33 card, and they don’t just want her to make an appearance, they want her to have a match next year in Orlando.

“WWE is also hopeful that they will be allowed to use Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando, Florida. While her in-ring segment at WrestleMania 31 with The Rock, Stephanie McMahon and Triple H was a memorable moment, WWE is hoping they can secure Rousey for an actual match at their biggest event of the year.”

According to DiMoro, WWE is hoping that, by them allowing Brock Lesnar to fight at UFC 200, the UFC will allow both VanZant and Rousey to appear on their two biggest shows of the year.

Many believed that Rousey would end up appearing and wrestling on this year’s WrestleMania 32 card, but after she lost the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship to Holly Holm last November, a lot of things changed. Of course, WWE was still interested in having her appear at the event, but at that time, she wasn’t exactly interested or able to make a whole lot of public appearances.

As for who WWE wants her to wrestle, well, that’s pretty much up in the air. One possible opponent is Stephanie McMahon, which is a match that was teased back at WrestleMania 31.

Another possible opponent is the current WWE Women’s Champion Charlotte, which is a match that both Rousey and the Women’s Champ are interested in. But if the UFC does allow Rousey to wrestle, a match with Charlotte may not happen because, according to the Wrestling Observer, WWE may be planning Charlotte vs. Dana Brooke for next year’s WrestleMania.

Prior to this year’s WrestleMania 32, there were rumors of a mixed tag-team match that would involve the team of Stephanie McMahon and Triple H taking on the team of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Ronda Rousey. So, that match may be on the table for next year in Orlando.

As of this writing, it doesn’t look like Ronda Rousey will be fighting anytime soon, and there’s a chance that she may never fight again. So, if that’s the case, the UFC may not have an issue with allowing her to do a match at WrestleMania 33.

Miesha Tate, who is the current UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion, believes that Rousey probably will never fight again, which is the common belief among fellow MMA fighters and most of the MMA media.

There have been rumors that Rousey will be making her return to the Octagon this coming November for the UFC’s debut at Madison Square Garden. If that is the case, it’s unclear if she’ll get an immediate title opportunity upon her return, or if she’ll have to fight one time to earn a shot at the women’s bantamweight title.

After Miesha Tate defeated Holly Holm at UFC 196, Rousey texted UFC President Dana White, and she seemed eager to go back into the Octagon. But since then, we haven’t heard much regarding her return to the UFC.

As of right now, there’s actually a chance that we could see Rousey in a WWE ring before we see her step back into the UFC’s Octagon again. So we could see Rousey vs. Stephanie McMahon before we see Rousey challenge either Holly Holm or Miesha Tate again.
