WWE Wrestler Sheamus Wants ‘Game Of Thrones,’ ‘Walking Dead,’ And Venom Roles

There are numerous wrestlers that have made the transition from the ring to the big-screen.

Dwayne Johnson, Hulk Hogan, and John Cena have each starred in their own films, becoming bona-fide movie stars in their own right. And now Stephen Farrelly, who in the WWE world is known as Sheamus, is aiming to join them.

Not only has the Irish grappler recently starred as Rocksteady in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows, but he’s already setting his sights on further cinematic adventures.

During his appearance at Wizard World’s Philadelphia Comic Convention that took place on Friday, Sheamus not only admitted that he wants to guest star on Game Of Thrones and The Walking Dead.

In a previous interview, Sheamus also insisted that he would love to star as Venom in a future Spider-Man film, too. Speaking to Digital Spy, via Comic Book Movie, Sheamus admitted his dream roles.

“I’ve always said I want to play Venom, from Spider-Man. Another iconic character.”

In the past, Sheamus has made his love of Venom known, admitting in 2014 that he was a huge fan of the character and that he’d read the comics throughout his youth.

“I always read comic books as a kid, I always remember Eddie Brock, who was Venom in the Spider-Man comics. He was kind of a red head. I’ve to play the role of Venom and Eddie Brock. Venom was one of my favorite characters,” he remarked.

But while Sheamus has already pin-pointed roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Walking Dead, Game Of Thrones, and Spider-Man, he’s also admitted that he’d love to return as Rocksteady for a potential Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3, too.

When pushed about returning to the franchise, Sheamus insisted, “Absolutely, I’d love to! I had so much fun doing this movie, so much [fun] doing it – I’d love to have another opportunity to do another one.”

But there’s uncertainty about whether Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows will actually get a follow-up. After being released into cinemas on Thursday night, Deadline has reported that it made $11 million on Friday. This means that it’s currently tracking for a box-office weekend total of $28-$30 million.

That should be enough to topple X-Men: Apocalypse and allow Out Of The Shadows to finish on top of the box office this weekend. However, this success is a fallacy, as its performance is much inferior to its 2014 predecessor, which went on to gross $65 million over its opening weekend that summer.

Out Of The Shadows has actually achieved mildly better reviews than Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014). The original scored 22 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, but the follow-up went on to record 36 percent on the same website.

While Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows is set to top the box office this coming weekend, the film that is on-course to have the best weekend is Me Before You.

The romantic comedy stars Game Of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke and The Hunger Games’ Sam Claflin in a romantic drama, which revolves around a recent quadriplegic that slowly begins to fall in love with his caregiver. Made for around $20 million, it’s now on track to gross somewhere between $15 million and $20 million, even though it only has 56 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
