WWE News: WWE Teases Return Of Former Champion Tonight On ‘Monday Night Raw’

For the past couple of months, WWE has been airing vignettes and promos for a tag team that will consist of Primo and Epico. Now, this isn’t exactly a new team as Primo and Epico have been teaming together for years, but this will be their third gimmick with the company. As the Shining Stars are set to debut on Monday Night Raw tonight, the company is also teasing the return of a former champion who is very close to both superstars.

Could tonight be the return of Carlito Caribbean Cool?

The WWE website has a preview for tonight’s Monday Night Raw, and it states that the debut of the Shining Stars (Primo and Epico) is finally about to happen. It’s long overdue, and it could finally be what gets the team over in a big way.

“For months now, the WWE Universe has been receiving dispatches from Puerto Rico and the suave Shining Stars, Primo & Epico. Well, on Monday, the boys make the trip to the mainland for their Raw debuts, and with a burgeoning tag team division laid out before them, they’ll have the pick of the litter for their first opponents.”

That description is an informative one, but fans kind of have an idea what they will be getting with the new team. They have been focusing on being the “shining stars of the Caribbean” and trying to get people to visit Puerto Rico.

Now, there is something even more interesting about the preview from the WWE website, and it is the title of this focus point – “Caribbean cool.”

Back in 2004, Carlito made his debut on SmackDown under the ring name of “Carlito Caribbean Cool.” In time, his name was simply shortened to “Carlito,” but this was how he came onto the WWE main roster scene, and it’s just interesting that the company would throw out that same phrase/name now.

During his WWE run, Carlito did spend time teaming with his brother, Primo, and they had even won both the WWE Tag Team Championship and World Tag Team Championship. For those not aware, Epico is the cousin of both Primo and Carlito as well.

It would really make a lot of sense for Carlito to return to WWE and lead a stable consisting of his family who now have the same gimmick as him. Not only would fans love to see him back, but it would also give Primo and Epico that little extra push they seem to have been missing for years.

It’s not like Carlito hasn’t been following along with the vignettes for his brother and cousin. Back on May 2, he retweeted this post from the official WWE Twitter account.

There have been rumors of Carlito returning to WWE for a number of years now, but nothing has ever happened. It seems there have been discussions with WWE, but something always fell through and stopped it from actually taking place.

Back in early March, he spoke with The Hannibal TV about heading back to WWE and said it would happen under the “right circumstances.”

“It’s not up to me. I guess the ball is in their court. That’s where I started, that’s where I made my career and I haven’t gone anywhere else so far.”

Not only could the right circumstances be met by WWE, but it seems like the right time for a Carlito return as well.

Primo and Epico are no longer Los Matadores and no longer have the masks over their faces as they are now the Shining Stars. They will make their long-awaited debut tonight on Monday Night Raw, and WWE is really playing up the gimmick in an interesting way. It’s exactly the same gimmick that Carlito had during his run with the company, and it’s quite possible that a new stable may soon arrive on the scene.
