The Twitterverse absorbed a crushing blow today when Perez Hilton tweeted that One Direction’s Zayn Malik was cheating on his girlfriend. The tweet caused several celebrities like Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Britney Spears, and Lady Gaga to unfollow the professional gossiper and caused Malik to ditch the social networking site altogether.
Malik said that he decided to leave Twitter because there was so much hate on the internet.
“The reason i don’t tweet as much as i use to, is because I’m sick of all the useless opinions and hate that i get daily goodbye twitter…. My fans that have something nice to say can tweet me on the one direction account, x.”
Apparently, Malik received a lot of hate messages after Perez Hilton claimed that he was cheating on his girlfriend.
Perez bases his claim off of a blurry video shot through a peephole of a hotel room that was looking across the hall at Malik’s room. In the video, Malik, his bodyguard, and a girl can be heard talking. The guard apparently asks the girl how old she is and tells her to come back later.
Perez wrote on Twitter:

Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Britney Spears, and Lady Gaga all unfollowed Perez Hilton in silent protest. Zayn Malik’s fans, however, weren’t as quiet.
“If Perez Hilton gets hit by a bus tomorrow… We all know it’s going to be a directioner driving it.”

“i like Perez Hilton!” said by nobody ever in the existence of humanity!

It isn’t clear if Zayn Malik is cheating on his girlfriend, but this Twitter debacle has taught us two things: In the wake of Kristen Stewart’s affair, celebrities like Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato aren’t going to play nice with gossip magazines anymore. And two, never, under any circumstances, mess with directioneers.
