WWE News: WWE Superstar Seth Rollins Set To Return Very Soon

WWE Superstar Seth Rollins has been out of action since the Fall of 2015. He went down at a terrible time as he was the reigning WWE World Champion and was set to face off with Roman Reigns at WWE Survivor Series. Many news reports have come out claiming Reigns was set to win the title there, like he did anyway, and the same results we saw were set to happen. Maybe barring a second reign…but who knows? Regardless, Crossfit Jesus went down and the company knew they were in trouble.

WrestleMania was around the corner and they had already lost Cesaro and Randy Orton. John Cena had yet to come back, but his presence was at least somewhat helpful. Then of course he gets hurt and plans for WrestleMania were just thrashed. Rollins wasn’t going to be back any time soon once he went down to injury. He tore his ACL, MCL, and medial meniscus. All three are bad on their own but Rollins went above and beyond.

Most thought that this would keep him out at least a year, but the former WWE World Champion was not about to let this happen. Once out of surgery, Seth Rollins did double rehab and spent hours trying to get ready for his comeback. This worked out well, as he was already off crutches just a few months in. By WrestleMania time, he was already back in the gym working hard. He looks to still be in great shape and his return has been highly anticipated.

When will he return though? According to Daily Wrestling News, Seth Rollins will be back on WWE TV shortly. The reason he has yet to make his comeback is because he is currently filming a WWE Studios film called Temple in the city of New Orleans. The movie is expected to be an early 2017 release, but it could be out by the Fall. Once the filming of this wraps, Seth Rollins will be back.

The ideal time for him to make his return would be right after WWE Extreme Rules. There is no need to have him return at Extreme Rules and if he comes back the night after for WWE RAW, the pop could be really big for him and maybe even help television ratings. The current timetable we’ve been given all along now seems to be fitting well.. There has been talk of having Seth Rollins come back in a big way, which could very well mean he will go right after the WWE World Title upon his return to the ring.

According to Cageside Seats, WWE is expected to stretch the AJ Styles/Roman Reigns storyline to at least WWE Money in the Bank. This matches up with some rumored plans made by WWE involving Rollins, as the idea was for him to make his comeback at MITB or right around it. A few plans were reportedly discussed. The first was to have him return shortly before the event and qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match. This would then be won by Rollins who would cash in the case down the line to get back the WWE World Title.

The other plan discussed was having him return at the MITB event, bringing his own WWE World Title. He never lost the WWE World Title of course, as an injury cost him vacate the title in a way. There interestingly was nothing done on Rollins part, as he never came out to give the title back. Rather, it was done apparently on his behalf. This would certainly play a major role in the storyline.

The idea would be for Seth Rollins to return at the event, with his own title, and go up to the champion and claim to be the true champ. This would then give WWE a huge match for the following PPV, WWE Battleground, which would crown the Undisputed WWE World Champion. Due to the need for this PPV to actually mean something, this would be an ideal way to sell the PPV that happens to air right before WWE SummerSlam. Most likely, the match would get interrupted by someone, who would then face off with either man at the following event. This would of course save both men from losing to the other, which could happen down the line. All of that said, expect him back within a month from now.
