WWE News: Enzo Amore At ‘Monday Night RAW’ After ‘Payback’ Injury

Enzo Amore suffered a very scary injury in the opening match of the WWE Payback pay-per-view event. The injury for Amore occurred when he teamed with Big Cass to battle the Vaudevillains to determine the new No. 1 contenders for The New Day’s WWE World Tag Team Championship. The match was only about two minutes underway when Amore hit his head on the second rope and then his head bounced off the ring apron. It looked like he injured his neck, but luckily, the injury was classified as a concussion with no further damage.

Wrestle Zone reported that Amore was released from the hospital after testing on Monday and he was backstage at the WWE Monday Night RAW episode in St. Louis. All tests from the injury came back negative outside of the concussion, so there was no nerve damage or serious injury to his neck. Enzo did not appear on camera, and he will have to pass his ImPACT testing before the WWE allows him to return from this concussion.

WWE superstar Kevin Steen posted a nice photo on Twitter of Enzo and Big Cass talking, and it looks like Enzo might be fine when he recovers from his concussion. Kevin Steen and Sami Zayn wrestled the first match after the injury, and it appeared that Steen was extremely upset before coming out, as his eyes were very red. The photo with Steen, Amore, and Cass at the hospital showed Steen in much better spirits.

The New Day, who will now face The Vaudevillains at WWE Extreme Rules for the tag team titles, also took the time to discuss the Enzo injury on WWE Monday Night RAW. The trio of Kofi Kingston, Big E, and Xavier Woods said that when Amore returns from his injury, they will be there to welcome him back and offer Enzo and Big Cass the match they deserve.

That promo led to The Vaudevillains coming out and taking credit for the injury, putting the right kind of heat on their bad-guy tag team. That led to the Dudley Boyz coming out and then Big Cass making an appearance, looking for revenge for the injury to Enzo Amore. Big Cass picked up the win, pinning D-Von Dudley in the match. It was a good way to keep Enzo and Big Cass in the minds of the fans while Amore is out with his injury.

However, when Enzo Amore will return is still up in the air. It is important to remember that concussions are a serious injury in professional wrestling today. Daniel Bryan suffered a concussion last year and that ended his career. While Bryan was cleared by his doctors to wrestle again, the WWE refused to put him back in the ring. This year, Bryan learned that his concussions were more serious than originally believed and he was forced to retire from professional wrestling.

The injury to Amore saw him hit his head very hard and the impact knocked Enzo completely out. The WWE had to stretcher Enzo out of the arena and transported him to the hospital. Wrestling Inc. has learned that Amore suffered a “serious concussion.” However, Enzo remembered everything from before the match, which is a good sign. Regardless, he will have a lot of work to do before he returns from this injury.

This is a tough break for Enzo because he and Big Cass had received a huge push since coming up to the main roster from NXT the night after WrestleMania 32. They got into an immediate feud with The Dudley Boyz and actually came out on top in that feud. They looked like the chosen ones to get the tag team title match before the injury ended those hopes. Regardless, when Enzo Amore and Big Cass do return, expect them to find themselves right back in the spotlight once again.
