Kirsten Dunst, Garrett Hedlund Split: Dunst Ready For Marriage While Hedlund Recalls Disastrous First Date

Kirsten Dunst and her On the Road co-star Garrett Hedlund ended their four-year-long romantic journey, according to E! Online. Dunst and Hedlund had been together for four years, and even though it doesn’t seem like a long time, there have been no signs the two would split.

The news comes as a surprise, especially after Kirsten Dunst was accompanied by her now-ex at the 2016 Golden Globes earlier this year. Walking the red carpet, the couple was all smiles, and the actress’ fans noted that it’s unlikely those smiles were a mere pretense. Dunst was nominated for her role in the second season of Fargo at this year’s Golden Globes.

In summer 2015, Kirsten Dunst said in her interview with Town & Country that everything was “really well” between the two, reported the Sun. In fact, the Fargo actress even said Hedlund felt like “family” to her, possibly hinting at their marriage plans.

“We’re the same age. We have similar backgrounds. He feels like family to me.”

In fact, this wasn’t the only time Kirsten Dunst talked marriage while dating her On the Road co-star. In her recent interview with InStyle magazine, the Interview with the Vampire actress said she already had plans for her future wedding day.

“I am someone who wants to get married. If it happens in my mid-to-late 30s, it’s going to be intimate.”

Kirsten Dunst added that her future wedding day, which apparently now won’t include Hedlund, would be organized for family and friends and would involve a dinner party and a DJ. The 33-year-old actress said she would treat her big day as her 40th birthday.

Kirsten Dunst also revealed she would want to start a family, saying she would want two kids “for sure.” It wasn’t the first time the actress talked about getting pregnant, previously admitting that she was in “baby mode” because two of her good friends were pregnant at the time.

Kirsten Dunst and Hedlund met on the set of the film adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s On the Road. According to Us Weekly, the Pan actor admitted in his interview with Details that their very first date definitely wasn’t their best date, as the two fell out of the canoe and had to swim back to the shore in “mucky, s**tty water, like golf-pond water.”

But it wasn’t the first date that made Kirsten Dunst fall in love with Hedlund. In one of her interviews, Dunst revealed it was her boyfriend’s old-fashioned manners that attracted her, adding that she wants her boyfriend to pay for dinner and open the door for her, as she loves “the masculine.”

Before Hedlund, Kirsten Dunst had dated Razorlight rocker Johnny Borrell and actor Jake Gyllenhaal.

Kirsten Dunst has recently shared a Flashback Friday pic featuring herself and Brad Pitt 21 years ago, according to SELF. The throwback Instagram photo was taken on the set of their movie, Interview with the Vampire, released in 1994.

The plot of the movie, starring Kirsten Dunst, Brad Pitt, and Tom Cruise, is centered around two vampires (Pitt and Cruise) enjoying their immorality in modern-day San Francisco. Dunst, who received a Golden Globe nomination for the role, played their 12-year-old vampire daughter.

The throwback picture uploaded by Kirsten Dunst looks rather awkward, with Pitt standing behind his child co-star with his blond long hair. The two were photographed looking in different directions. The only thing that is missing on that pic is Cruise with his curly blonde hair.

Kirsten Dunst has just finished working on her upcoming movie Midnight Special with Joel Edgerton and is about to start working on The Beguiled alongside Nicole Kidman.
