Did Kylie Jenner’s Coachella Look Copy Brit Day’s Instagram Look?

Oh no she didn’t! Kylie Jenner’s Saturday Coachella look was hardly an original. Many have called out Kylie and have said that she did steal this girl’s original look!

Imagine the surprise Aussie Instagrammer Brit Day felt when she looked at the fashion photos from the Coachella Music Festival only to see her exact head-to-toe look copied by fashionista Kylie Jenner! Did Kylie really steal her look? The New Zealander fashion designer, living and working in Australia, was quick to hit social media with her photo from two weeks back side by side with Kylie’s Coachella photo.

Many wonder, was Kylie Jenner’s Coachella look a copycat? Did Kylie steal this girl’s look?

Brit Day thought so!

“When the babe’n @kyliejenner steals your look!”

Both women are wearing the memorable Discount Universe 2-piece eyeball look with a long, sheer kimono and identical pink (with roots showing the same exact way) hair framing their heads. Brit Day wears her bikini with combat boots, while Kylie Jenner chooses some frou-frou fuzzy blue slippers. There, Kylie did not steal Brit’s look.

While fans are bullying Brit Day on her Instagram account, others are looking to see if it is even possible that Kylie or her style team could have seen this look and intentionally decided to steal it from this Instagrammer.

Here is Brit Day’s original post, as she attended the Rabbit Eats Lettuce festival in New South Wales. What is interesting to note is that Brit hashtagged the heck out of this post, including Discount Universe.

This was two weeks ago. Then, on their own Instagram page, right after Brit Day posted, again 2 weeks ago, Discount Universe reposted the photo of Brit Day in her awesome Discount Universe “Evil Eye” bikini and acknowledged Brit looking great in their glittery eye-catching bikini. This is the photo that first made everyone wonder if Kylie did steal her look.

Fast forward about two weeks to the Coachella Festival, where Coachella fashion is as important as the music, Kylie Jenner appears in this “Evil Eye” glittery 2-piece by Discount Universe. Here, Discount Universe announces to everyone how they can preorder this hot number. No explanation as to why Brit was able to already wear her “Evil Eye” bikini. Perhaps it is already available in stores down under?

And then we have to wonder, did Discount Universe sponsor Kylie Jenner? Hard to know. We can guess that they, along with dozens of other companies that wanted promotion at this high profile event, possibly sent her this garment to wear. Or perhaps they hired Kylie Jenner to wear this very catchy 2-piece glittery showpiece. This would not be the first time that a celebrity spokesperson has been asked to wear something for an event.

What is unclear is why no one-from the people at Discount Universe to the stylists that work around Kylie Jenner-thought to advise Kylie to change up some of this look. While the rainbow hair was cool, she would have been better wearing her peach wig to not look exactly like Brit Day’s look. Or Kylie could have worn a different type of kimono. Or both! Granted, Kylie did wear the bikini with a pair of very unflattering jean shorts for one photo. But that was only temporary. Between the heat and the design, those shorts had to go!

While Kylie Jenner is only 18 and is just starting to learn to create her own style, she really has to take charge of her career. Kylie should pay attention to what she is wearing and how to pay homage to others, while playing with her own creative style. What is challenging is that Kylie is always going to be copied, so she must always be ahead of the game. But this is a game she has chosen to play and it is up to her to have integrity and push the buttons. And that does not mean silly lip syncs like in this video, but look up to her sister Kendall’s amazing Coachella fashion looks and really wear original garments in her own style. With all of her resources and connections, Kylie should never have to steal anyone’s look.
