Bangladesh cricket star bowler Mustafizur Rahman makes his Indian Premier League debut on Tuesday in an IPL match that will stream live from Bangalore, India. Mustafizur’s new team, Sunrisers Hyderabad, will play their first match of the season, taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore — a match that will see the 20-year-old Bangladesh pace bowling prodigy who has rocketed to global cricket stardom in less than a year to take his game to the sport’s biggest annual stage.
But “The Fiz” will have his work cut out for him, as will the rest of the Sunrisers bowling corps, as they go up against the batting-packed Bangalore lineup which features three of the world’s best and most dangerous batsmen — India’s Virat Kolhi, who also captains the Royal Challengers; Chris Gayle of West Indies; and South Africa legend A.B. de Villiers.
In his only other experience in franchise league T20 cricket in the Bangladesh Premier league last November, Mustafizur faced Gayle and bowled him. Watch that instant classic moment in the video below.
Sunrisers Hyderabad purchased the rights to Mustafizur Rahman in this year’s IPL auction for $208,000, a price that some experts consider a bargain given the wicket haul that Mustafizur has shown himself capable of delivering.
On the Hyderabad squad, Mustafizur is just one part of a powerful, pace-heavy attack that also includes New Zealand pacer Trent Boult and India stars Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ashish Nehra.

To find out how to watch a live stream of the Mustafizur Rahman IPL debut in the Royal Challengers Bangalore vs. Sunrisers Hyderabad Indian Premier League match four, see the streaming links in the final paragraph of this article. First ball, which could very well be bowled by Mustafizur himself, is scheduled for Tuesday, April 12, at 8:00 p.m. India Standard Time at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, India.
For Bangladesh cricket fans in the United States, the live stream will start at 10:30 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time, 7:30 a.m. Pacific.
Despite the global spotlight and packed stadiums of the IPL, Mustafizur says that he is relaxed going into his first game in the orange jersey of Sunrisers Hyderabad.
“What is there to think about? I really don’t think much about anything. Just go, play and bowl – that’s it,” Mustafizur told The Dhaka Tribune.
The Bangalore batsmen, however, likely will be thinking about how to handle the crafty medium pacer and his deceptive cutter. In his last match against New Zealand in the T20 World Cup on March 26, Mustafizur took five wickets for a mere 22 runs — the best bowling figures by any bowler in a T20 World Cup match this year.

Mustafizur and the Sunrisers bowlers will be under pressure to restrict the intimidating Bangalore batsmen, given that the Hyderabad batting order is much thinner than the team’s bowling corps. A massive responsibility will fall on openers David Warner, the Australia vice-captain who skippers Sunrisers, and Shikhar Dhawan of India to pile up runs at the top of the order, to give the bowlers something to work with.
