WWE News: Shane McMahon Praises AJ Styles And Recent NXT Call-Ups

Shane McMahon came up short in his Hell in a Cell match against The Undertaker at this past Sunday’s WrestleMania 32, but it does look like he’ll be on WWE television on a semi-regular basis despite that.

One of the biggest things in the Shane vs. The Authority storyline was that Shane wanted to make big changes in the company, which meant taking opportunities away from people who didn’t deserve them, while giving those opportunities to people who he and the fans felt deserved them. Basically, the idea was that Shane wanted to give the fans new stars, instead of shoving the same old stars down their throats.

Vince McMahon temporarily put Shane McMahon in-charge on this past Monday’s RAW, with the idea being that, with Shane in control, the show would be a complete disaster, thus proving why it wouldn’t be a good idea to let Shane O’Mac run the company’s flagship show.

This year’s post-WrestleMania RAW wasn’t as great as it usually is, but we did get to see some new faces on the show, as WWE made the decision to call-up Apollo Crews, Baron Corbin, Enzo Amore, and Colin Cassady to the main-roster. In storyline, the idea is that it was Shane’s call to bring the NXT stars to the main-roster. So, WWE is pushing the idea that, with Shane in charge, we’ll begin to see new faces on the company’s main-roster.

Shane McMahon praised all of the recent NXT call-ups after this past Monday’s RAW went off the air, along with AJ Styles, who is the new number one contender for Roman Reigns’ WWE World Heavyweight Championship, by saying that the NXT debuts, and Styles becoming the top contender for the company’s biggest prize were his three favorite moments from this week’s RAW show.

Now, how long will Shane McMahon be WWE’s on-screen authority figure? Well, that wasn’t exactly made clear on Monday’s show. All Vince McMahon said is that Shane being in-charge was temporary, and he didn’t give a timetable as to when Shane will be gone, and The Authority (Triple H and Stephanie McMahon) will return to WWE RAW.

Dave Meltzer, of the Wrestling Observer, stated on Tuesday’s Wrestling Observer Radio that Shane McMahon was only put in-charge for this week’s show, and that he’ll probably go away for a while now.

There have been rumors of a WWE brand-split ever since Shane McMahon returned back in February, but, so far, WWE hasn’t hinted that there will be such a thing. The rumor is that Shane will run RAW, and The Authority will run SmackDown.

The brand-split idea makes sense if WWE is planning on keeping Shane McMahon around for the foreseeable future. But, when Shane returned, the idea was to bring him in as a performer until WrestleMania, where he would lose to The Undertaker, and then he would go away. But, his return has gotten such a huge response, and, because of that, WWE may have changed their plans, and Shane could be a semi-regular character on television.

As for if there will be any other NXT stars who will be called-up to the main-roster in the near-future, well, it’s a possibility. The Balor Club, which will presumably be made up of Finn Balor, Karl Anderson, and Doc Gallows, could be debuting at any time per Bryan Alvarez of Figure Four Weekly. So, if Shane remains as the on-screen authority figure, then he could bring in the Balor Club as a way to inject some new life into WWE.
