WWE News: Shane McMahon Vs. Undertaker Set To Main-Event ‘WrestleMania 32’

There’s been some debate over the last couple of weeks about which match will main-event this Sunday’s WrestleMania 32. Typically, the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match is the main-event of WWE’s biggest show of the year, but that won’t be the case this year, according to the Wrestling Observer.

Shane McMahon vs. Undertaker inside Hell in a Cell will be the show-closing match at AT&T Stadium, and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match between Triple H and Roman Reigns will be the semi-main-event of the show.

The feeling within WWE is that nobody, not even Triple H vs. Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, will be able to follow Shane vs. Undertaker inside Hell in a Cell. Furthermore, in the storyline, Shane did say that he’d immediately fire Triple H and Stephanie McMahon if he defeated Undertaker at WrestleMania 32. So, it wouldn’t make much sense for Triple H to go out there and defend his title after Shane got the win, which is presumably going to happen.

There’s also been some talk of a Roman Reigns heel turn taking place after he wins the WWE Title on Sunday. The idea is that The Rock will help Reigns win the Title, and then Reigns will beat up The Rock after the match, which would set up a match between the two at WrestleMania 33 next year, and WWE wants to end their biggest show with a happy ending, and not with something like Roman Reigns beating up The Rock, who everyone loves.

Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer noted on Thursday’s Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE is planning a major surprise return during the event. Some have predicted that the Balor Club (Finn Balor, Luke Gallows, and Karl Anderson) will make their main-roster debut this Sunday, and help Shane win inside Hell in a Cell. But, Alvarez said that the Balor Club’s debut is more likely to take place on Monday’s RAW, as both Gallows and Anderson will be flying into Texas while WrestleMania 32 is happening.

Alvarez also said that the surprise isn’t likely to be John Cena interfering inside Hell in a Cell, which is another idea that has been floating around. He also noted that everyone will have a pretty good idea of who the major surprise will be on Saturday night, as that person will likely be spotted somewhere in Dallas.

There is an expectation that there will be some interference in the Hell in a Cell match, and, whoever that person ends up being, will help Shane McMahon defeat Undertaker.

As of right now, the odds-makers have Undertaker listed as a slight favorite over Shane, but that could all change this weekend as we get closer to the event.

Some don’t believe that Undertaker will end up losing on Sunday, because they don’t believe that this will be his last WrestleMania. But, WWE hasn’t always stayed true to their stipulations, and they probably won’t with this one, unless Undertaker has made it clear that he’s done wrestling after this Sunday night.

Over the last year, it’s been reported that Undertaker was planning on retiring after WrestleMania 32. But, it’s clear that “The Deadman” is in great shape, and he may have a couple more years left in him.

Shane McMahon vs. Undertaker is easily the most anticipated match on this Sunday’s card, and it may be the most anticipated WrestleMania main-event that WWE’s had since the first John Cena vs. The Rock match. Will it live up to the hype? We’ll find out on Sunday night!
