A hobbling Bangladesh cricket team faces a difficult test when they face Australia in a T20 World Cup match that will stream live Monday, a match that could either effectively eliminate Bangladesh from the tournament – or put the Tigers right back in the thick of the race for advancement to the semifinals.
Of course, the same could be said about Australia, winners of last years’ Cricket World Cup, a tournament played in the 50-overs format. Both Australia and Bangladesh come into the Monday game having played one each — and lost it.
Bangladesh, after dominating their qualifying group, were blown away by a seemingly rejuvenated Pakistan team in their T20 World Cup opener, losing by 55 runs.
Australia made their 2016 T20 World Cup debut against regional rival New Zealand, but came away stunned as they could not chase down a total of 143 to lose by eight runs.

Only New Zealand remains undefeated in Group Two, after they also shocked hosts and T20 World Cup favorites India in the tournament opener — meaning that after the Bangladesh vs. Australia match on Monday, three teams in the group will be left at 1-1, battling to become one of the two teams to emerge from the group into the semifinals.
But the loser, at 0-2, will be left needing some kind of a miracle, plus two straight wins, to have even a chance at moving into the knockout round.
For Bangladesh, that would mean defeats of red-hot New Zealand, and India. Unfortunately, Bangladesh has lost two straight T20 matched to India, both in the Asia Cup earlier this month — including the final of that competition.

To find out how to watch a live stream of the Bangladesh vs. Australia T20 Cricket World Cup Super 10 match on Monday, see the links at the bottom of this article. The match is scheduled to get underway at 7:30 p.m. India Standard Time at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, India, on Monday, March 21.
For fans in the United States, that start time will be 10 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time, 7 a.m. Pacific.
Bangladesh remain without their star fast bowling prodigy, 20-year-old Mustafizur Rahman, who remains out of action with a side strain that has sidelined the burgeoning international star since the final group stage match of the Asia Cup on March 2.
But the Tigers were dealt a new and painful setback on Saturday when the ICC slapped bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Arafat Sunny with bans from international cricket, after they were both tested for illegal bowling actions.
A devastated and outraged Bangladesh team called up left-arm spinner Saqlain Sajib to make his international debut, along with veteran allrounder Shuvagata Chowdury, making his return to the squad.
Australia and Bangladesh have had bad luck recently in their attempts to play a game against each other. During the Cricket World Cup in February of 2015, their scheduled match was washed out by rain without a ball bowled.
Later in the same year, Australia scotched an entire tour of Bangladesh due to what Cricket Australia officials cited as security concerns. The Australia Under-19 team then pulled out of the U19 World Cup in February, which was hosted by Bangladesh, also due to what Australia said were ongoing security issues in Bangladesh.
But the weather forecast is clear for Monday, and the match takes place in India, so it appears that the two countries will finally meet on the cricket pitch.

Australia has struggled in T20 matches this year, losing six of the eight they’ve played, including their lone T20 World Cup match so far, and a warm-up match against West Indies. In 2015, Australia played only one T20, losing that one too, at the end of their England tour.
