WWE NXT Champions Finn Bálor And Bayley Have The Time Of Their Lives ‘Dirty Dancing’ At A Live Show [Video]

Over the past six years, developmental brand NXT has been the “breaking ground” for future WWE talent. With the WWE Performance Center providing everything a wrestler needs to become a future WWE superstar, either it be in-ring training to character development, along with weekly live performances held in Full Sail University, that brass ring is not far from reach. All any wrestling fan has to do is look at the current new talent on the main roster to see the developmental brand’s fruits of labor. Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, The Wyatt Family, Neville, Kevin Owens, Paige, Charlotte, Becky Lynch, and Sasha Banks all came up from NXT.

What is surprising about NXT is that many WWE fans find it to be a far superior brand, a more entertaining show than what the main roster puts out. All the wrestlers seem to do a better job performing, the stories are enticing, and the minimalist production is utilized to its maximum potential. Maybe that’s why NXT women’s champion Bayley has said she is at no rush to join the main roster despite the fact it would reunite the Four Horsewomen of NXT.

NXT has also become synonymous with “breaking kayfabe” or “curtain calls” in which the most popular instance happened at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn. After Bayley and Sasha Banks finished their phenomenal championship match, they were joined by Charlotte and Becky Lynch in one of the most memorable moments in NXT history. All four of them stood side-by-side as they presented the hand gesture for the Four Horsemen. Needless to say, all who attended and all who watched on the WWE Network will never forget it.

Getting back on the topic of “breaking kayfabe” and “curtain calls,” NXT champions Finn Bàlor and Bayley have been doing such at house shows recently. Their latest “breaking kayfabe” moment is getting a lot of attention as they showed the NXT Universe “the time of their lives” with their “Dirty Dancing.”

The epic moment happened when both Finn Bàlor and Bayley were seen together in the ring in what can be assumed as the aftermath of a house show, as reported by Uproxx. Bayley waited in anticipation as Bàlor was on the microphone in which he said the following to her.

“Well Bayley, Finn 3:16 says, ‘May I have this dance?'”

Bayley, thoroughly surprised from Bàlor’s proposal, loses composure as her NXT Women’s Championship belt slides off her shoulders. Heralded by a flurry of “Yes!” chants, the lights dim and “(I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life” by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes, the theme from the movie Dirty Dancing starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, starts to play. What happens next will surely cause NXT fans to ship a Bàlor and Bayley relationship, either it be professional or in real life.

As shown from the video above, Finn Bàlor and Bayley surely knew how to get the crowd going with their “Dirty Dancing” bit. From covering their mouths, turning away in shyness, to the awkward holding of each often seen at homecoming or prom dances, both Bàlor and Bayley played their parts likened to shy teenagers. It was until the grand finale when they did their version of the elusive lift from Dirty Dancing.

To be fair, the “Dirty Dancing” bit executed by Finn Bàlor and Bayley may have been something discussed in the back, but given Bayley’s reaction, it is possible she didn’t think Bàlor would be on board doing in front of the NXT Universe. Ultimately, we are thankful they did because it was truly a treat.
