NBA Trade Rumors: Blake Griffin To Be Traded To Knicks For Carmelo Anthony

The NBA trade deadline is quickly approaching, and there are a lot of big names connected to many huge rumors. Carmelo Anthony has been attached to a few of them already, but now a lot of attention is being given to Blake Griffin and the LA Clippers. Some trades have seemed a bit complicated, but now there is one that is quite easy as it could just be a simple swap – Carmelo Anthony for Blake Griffin.

When it all boils down to things, the NBA trade rumors are nothing more than that – rumors. No matter how much speculation is done, the only thing that matters is if the trade makes sense for both teams and if it can financially be done.

Believe it or not, the Clippers sending Blake Griffin to the Knicks in exchange for Carmelo Anthony works for both teams and it makes financial sense.

Sports Grid actually took a look at the numbers behind the proposed trade of Griffin for Anthony, and it works out better than you may think.

When using the “NBA Trade Machine” on ESPN, the deal actually goes through quite easily and it works. No third team is needed. No extra players or draft picks are needed. It’s a simple trade of Carmelo Anthony for Blake Griffin.

Currently, the Knicks are in the 11th spot in the Eastern Conference with a record of 23-28 and not in the playoffs if they started today. They’re not necessarily out of it just yet and are a mere 3.5 games out of the final playoff spot currently held by the Indiana Pacers.

The addition of a younger Blake Griffin could really help them considerably, but there are some things to take into account. Griffin was already out due to a few injuries, but now he’s out up to at least two more months with a broken bone in his hand.

That injury came about from an argument he recently had with a Clippers’ staffer who Griffin punched twice in the face.

Adding Griffin could give the New York Knicks a late-season boost once he can finally return to the court. It may bring about a late run for the playoffs and could get them into it if they’re close enough once he’s healthy again.

As for the LA Clippers, they’re currently in fourth place in the Western Conference with a record of 32-16, and they’ve won their last four in a row. The thing hers is that they’ve been doing all of this without Blake Griffin who hasn’t played since Christmas Day.

Carmelo Anthony could easily make the Clippers legitimate championship contenders for this season. He could fit right into their starting line-up and bring a lot of talent, skill, and leadership that the Clippers could benefit from.

Yes, Anthony is the franchise player of the New York Knicks, but the relationship isn’t working anymore. NJ states that the Knicks are rebuilding and at least three or four years away from being any type of contender.

By then, Anthony will be 35-years-old, and it may be too late for him to try for a championship.

Making the Griffin-for-Anthony trade gives the Knicks a younger and stronger talent who will instantly become their franchise player and speed up their rebuilding period. Anthony in Los Angeles gives him a chance for a championship much sooner.

Blake Griffin has been injured a lot and quite troublesome for the LA Clippers this season, and rumor has it that he will be somewhere else in the NBA before the trade deadline. The New York Knicks could benefit from acquiring him even if it means losing Carmelo Anthony.
