Dwyane Wade Gets Knee Surgery, Paints His Toenails

There’s good news and bad news for Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade. The bad: He’ll have to sit out for about 8 weeks to recover from his recent knee surgery. The good: He has a fresh coat of paint on his toenails from his most recent pedicure.

ESPN reports that Wade played most of the playoffs with an injured left knee. Wade decided to have surgery early in the off-season to make sure that he’ll be ready for training camp this Fall. The decision, of course, forced Wade to miss the 2012 London Olympics.

On the bright side, Wade has found a way to occupy himself during his time away from the court: Painting his toenails.

Pedicures aren’t exactly a new thing for Wade. Back in 2001 he told GQ Magazine that he liked to paint his toenails black.

Wade said:

“Three years ago I was like, ‘Man, I kind of want to paint my toenails black.’ At first I thought, ‘Nah, I can’t do that. They’re going to kill me.’ But eventually I decided to try it.”

A decade later and Wade is still experimenting with his toe color. Earlier today Wade tweeted a photo of his freshly painted toes.

Are you a fan of Dwayne Wade? Do you think he made the right decision to miss the Olympics in order to prepare for a championship defending season with the Miami Heat? Do you like his painted toe nails?
