Kate Middleton: The Trends She Wore in 2015 That Are Now Everywhere For 2016, The Designers’ Inspiration?
There’s no question that Kate Middleton has been one busy Duchess, wife, and mother of two. This, however, does not mean that 2015 left us underwhelmed by Middleton’s style one bit. The gorgeous royal seemed to even surpass her former praiseworthy fashion sense by stepping out in even more sheaths, gowns, and empire-waist coats that turned heads and may have even set the trends for the upcoming seasons in 2016.
Popsugar notes the correlation between trends of 2016 and the ensembles that the Duchess appeared in over the past year.
“Looking ahead to this Spring’s must-have styles and scrolling through the feeds of our favourite bloggers, the trends seem all too familiar. We’ve seen them before… last year, on Kate. Could she be the one setting the standard for what’s in and what’s out? Look through to decide for yourself as we patiently await Kate’s next fashion move.”
The first of such mentioned trends that were donned by Kate earlier this year include the pleat with a feminine flare.
As the publication relays, this “old-school” detail is now big on the runway and adds that bit of extra texture and movement to a piece that may otherwise seem somewhat dull or formal. Kate was seen in an emerald green structured dress that had pleated detail on its skirted portion earlier this year.
The Duchess wore a three-quarter-length black lace fitted dress to a formal event this past fall, and it’s no surprise that lace is also all over the runway for the upcoming seasons.
Popsugar shares that “[a]s Kate has demonstrated, this material works well for a formal occasion and is sexy without being too revealing.”
The high-neck polo, knit sweater — or “turtleneck,” as some refer to it — is now a winter must-have, typically in dark hues and shades. Middleton was sure to keep cozy in her choice of high-neck polo sweater, topping it off with a brilliant blue coat, a short while ago.
Kate has selected the flattering and form-conforming wrap dress style on a number of occasions, and this particular detail on any piece, whether a sweater, blouse, or ball gown, is certainly hot on the runways.
For definition of waist on her outerwear, the Duchess is known for adding a belt to cinch her core. The hour glass shape never truly goes out of style,
Kate Middleton truly takes the fashionista cake when it comes to her coat selection. Always divine in her array of colorful outerwear, it’s time to take note and replicate the trend as the publication encourages.
“It’s no secret that Kate’s true title is coat queen! Take a page from her book and trade in your neutrals for something vibrant.”
Playful prints have also been a fun addition to Middleton’s wardrobe over the past season, seeing as we usually spot the young royal in solids. She stepped out in a gorgeous Erdem gown in the early Fall and looked simply stunning in the powerful printed overlay.
Glaming up an ensemble with sparkling jewels is always a smart choice in the dreary months. Kate is no stranger to the glitz, especially on the day she was capped off with a tiara formerly owned by William’s late mother Princess Diana.
Designers are clearly taking note of Kate’s fashion selections and understand that, due to her flawless taste in garments and accessories, she is an embodiment of the poise, grace, and appeal that many women are keen to replicate in their own selections of ensembles on the daily.
The beauty has kept her fashionista title without faltering, even while maintaining her role as a hardworking royal and being a hands-on mom to her adorable little ones. Kate likely looked composed and chic even when snapping the pictures that have now gone viral of her little Prince George, heading off to school. The New York Daily News shares about the big day and the images that were snapped of George by Kate.
