WWE News: NJPW Star Shinsuke Nakamura Leaving Promotion For WWE Sooner Than Expected

In one of the biggest stories of the year so far, it appears the WWE has started to negotiate with four top wrestlers out of New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Among them is a Japanese legend who goes by the name of Shinsuke Nakamura. Known as The King of Strong Style, Nakamura’s brilliant work in Japan has been noticed by wrestling fans over the years. To the Japanese people, he is almost God-like. To the rest of us, he is a man of great talent who deserves to be highlighted more.

Nakamura may finally get that opportunity, as WWE does have interest and it looks like he is at least negotiating with the company. This past week on NJPW, the Bullet Club managed to get a heads up over both Nakamura and AJ Styles. The Club “fired” AJ Styles while Kenny Omega beat Nakamura in a tag match, earning him a shot at Nakamura’s IWGP Intercontinental Championship.

Nakamura fought Styles for the title at Wrestle Kingdom 10 this past week, where he won. Styles was leaving shortly after the match while Nakamura was set to stay through his NJPW deal, which goes through February. Now it looks like this is not going to be happening. Tokyo Sports spoke with Nakamura who claimed he would be leaving NJPW at the end of the month. That means Nakamura very well could work the Royal Rumble PPV for WWE or appear shortly after the event on a random episode of WWE RAW.

Nakamura gave his notice already, but the thought was that he would stay through his deal and drop his championship to Omega on the way out. It does appear that Nakamura will end up dropping the title. However, he will do it sooner than expected. He will most likely leave right after this. as NJPW has already set up their big plans going forward for both the IWGP Intercontinental Championship and The Bullet Club going forward. They plan to use Omega.

It appears as if NJPW is going all-in with Omega and planning to make him their top guy due to the fact that they are losing two other top performers in Styles and Nakamura.

While there has been no official confirmation that WWE has signed or will sign the big four NJPW stars, it appears they are going to do so. It is seemingly all but confirmed. Nakamura has wanted to work in America for some time now and enjoyed working the ROH shows he was part of in 2015. That said, the WWE deal came at a good time for him. The WWE also happens to be signing a guy who can still perform at a high level.

Nakamura is really no older than the likes of Hideo Itami and Finn Balor, as he is just 35 years old. Many have doubts on his WWE career due to his age, but knowing the fact that age is by no means a problem with others, it should not be for Nakamura. He is a skilled veteran with a big following. WWE needs this now more than ever. WWE Superstars are dropping like flies and WWE cannot afford to lose anyone else. Sadly they just did in the huge name of John Cena.

Shinsuke Nakamura coming in to help WWE with it’s lack of star power is certainly something that the company needs. This is why Shinsuke Nakamura arriving earlier than anticipated would be a big help to WWE. The company could use him big time right now.

With every single champion from last year’s WrestleMania 31 now out of action due to injury, WWE needs stars and they need them now. Nakamura brings star power that can instantly be thrown into a top tier match. What a way to make a big time hit in the company than to have a huge match at WrestleMania and help to steal the show? That would make him a star and someone WWE can use in big ways for years to come.
