Detroit Pistons News: Reggie Jackson Curses Out Heckler In Oklahoma City

Detroit Pistons guard Reggie Jackson played his first game as a visitor against his former team, the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday. While his team lost by a score of 103-87, Jackson stated that the booing from the fans did not bother him, but a new fan video from the game says otherwise.

As first reported by Deadspin, Jackson is seen returning to the Pistons bench on video after he was substituted out of the game. The video then shows Jackson direct his attention to a heckler in the stands and yell out a parade of obscenities before sitting down.

The video can be seen here, but it does feature some NFSW content.

In the loss, Jackson scored just 15 points while adding five rebounds and four assists. He made just four shots in 16 attempts. After the game, Jackson spoke to Detroit Free Press and said that he felt good despite missing a majority of shot attempts.

“I thought I played my game, I just didn’t get a shot to go in,” Jackson said. “I don’t think none of us could. It really felt like there was some voodoo on the ball or something. We missed a lot of shots hitting the back rim, coming out. But I felt good. Didn’t feel like I was trying to press it, didn’t feel like I was being tentative.”

Jackson, 25, was traded by the Thunder to the Pistons on February 19 as part of a three-team trade that also included the Utah Jazz, per NBA.com. Then, Jackson re-signed with the Pistons this past offseason for five years and $80 million, via ESPN.

Originally, Jackson had his sights set on becoming a starter in Oklahoma City but an abundance of talent kept him relegated to being a reserve. That led him to request a trade from the Thunder, via USA Today, which the fans obviously have not forgotten. To follow up on his first game back, Jackson added that the booing did not affect him, but rather flattered him.

“I got booed when I started here last year. I knew what time it was when I got in; I’m not really tripping. It doesn’t bother me. I kind of love to be hated. It’s flattering. It’s love and spite at the same time. They wouldn’t boo me if I didn’t do some special things and build some memories here. They booed me so that means we did some special things here – although we didn’t get a championship. They remember me.”

The fans were not the only ones who had little-to-no regard for Jackson.

Thunder superstars Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant did not seem to have fond memories of their former teammate. Durant told Anthony Slater of The Oklahoman that Andre Drummond is the Pistons’ best player and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is the second best, omitting Jackson.

As for Westbrook, he did not have much to say about his former teammate when asked about him, responding with a simple “Who?”

Overall in 2015, Jackson is enjoying a fine season as he’s averaging career-highs in points (19.1), rebounds (4.3), and assists (5.9) through the Pistons’ first 16 games. Jackson is also playing in a career high 30.7 minutes per game for the Pistons. Therefore, it’s obvious that Jackson is showing that he is more than capable of being a starter in the NBA.

But for future reference, Jackson should expect more hostile treatment from Thunder fans as they’ve obviously not forgotten about his tumultuous exit.
