Portable North Pole Returns: Popular App Lets Kids Get Personalized Message From Santa Claus

Portable North Pole is back, with the popular site returning to give parents a chance to create personalized messages from Santa Claus and send them to their kids.

The site has been growing in popularity and racking up great reviews from technology outlets, becoming the premier site among many offering personalized messages from the big man in the red suit.

This year, the site allows parents to choose either a free video or one of seven offered to premium users. Santa even offers to call a loved one directly on the phone, with 19 different scenarios that users can personalize.

The site iOSnoops gave Portable North Pole four stars, noting that it has a lot of different ways to personalize.

“From the FREE or 7 magic-dusted Premium video messages, that will make your child’s Christmas unforgettable. With up to 18 personalizations like photos of the child, their most-wanted gift, best friends’ names, hobbies and much more! There’s even a FREE one just for Grown-ups (it’s a little bit cheeky). What a treat!”

In recent years, Portable North Pole has extended its online empire, offering a host of new options for kids (and families) looking for a connection to Santa’s home. That includes some holiday recipes posted to the site’s Pinterest page, special offers and craft ideas on Twitter and regular updates for fans on Facebook.

The site is getting great reviews even from parents with older children. A reviewer from Kiddy Charts noted that her two kids — who were 7 and 9 last Christmas — no longer believed in Santa Claus, but still found the personalized message to be magical.

“I am actually not sure who was more upset to be honest, whether it was me, or whether it was them. My husband and I have always strongly felt we wouldn’t continue to lie to them about Santa if they asked a lot of questions. It became impossible to avoid my seven year old’s queries. It was a constant, every night before he went to sleep…so in the end, we explained all about Santa, in as magical a way as we possibly could.

“Both my children want to carry on as if he is still as magical as he was last year, which is fine by us, we love the big man.”

Portable North Pole isn’t the only way parents can get a personalized message from Santa Claus for their kids. The United States Postal Service offers a bit of help, allowing kids to send letters addressed to Santa at the North Pole.

If parents include a reply as Santa, it will be mailed back to the kids with a postmark from the North Pole. The USPS suggests that parents pocket the letters the kids write and write up their response from Santa on the back of that original letter, talking about the accomplishments for the kids over the course of that year (or maybe giving some gentle reminders to keep being good).

Parents will need to include their reply inside a new envelope that is stamped and addressed. They will need to write Santa Claus, North Pole in the return address line.

They should then place all of it in a letter and send it to:

North Pole Holiday Postmark
Postmaster
4141 Postmark Dr.
Anchorage, AK 99530-9998

If parents want their kids to get the letter in time for Christmas, they will need to get it there on or before December 15. The USPS wants parents to share pictures of their kids opening the letters and posting pictures on social media with the hashtag #LettersFromSanta.
