iPad Pro, Microsoft’s Surface Pro Competitor, Will Officially Launch On November 13

It was well-known that the iPad Pro would be available in November. However, an exact day has never been mentioned. However, MacRumors now has a release date.

“Popular warehouse chain Sam’s Club has started accepting pre-orders for Apple’s iPad Pro on its website, and has listed a release date of Friday, November 13 for the device. Sam’s Club began advertising the iPad Pro in emails sent out to members this morning.”

MacRumors notes that previous rumors had the iPad Pro launching on November 11. However, given that Nov. 11 is Veteran’s Day, November 13 makes a lot more sense. The iPad Pro is no guaranteed hit, as explained by Tech Times.

“Apple shareholders who placed their bets on iPad Pro’s success might have exposed themselves to risks. Information from the company’s supply chain suggests that sales of the iPad line are slowing down.”

The article goes on to note that there are a “thin” amount of pre-orders for the device, which is interesting, especially considering the device wasn’t available for pre-orders at the time the article was written. However, Fox News notes that technology expert Fraser Speirs loves the iPad Pro. Speirs thinks the iPad Pencil is extremely impressive. He adds that the iPad Pro feels more like a work device and that it is a good fit for Microsoft Office, Adobe apps, and a host of other workflow apps.

There is a big problem with the iPad Pro. Consumers, who normally ignore Apple’s shortcomings, will notice a major flaw. The Pro only runs a mobile operating system, iOS. While there are several robust apps for iOS, you can’t do everything you can on a desktop operating system, such as OS X and Windows. This is why a lot of consumers are opting for Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4, which can not only be used as a full-powered laptop with Windows 10, but as a tablet as well.

The Surface Pro 4 has received positive reviews. The Verge thinks its a nice upgrade from the Surface Pro 3.

“Just because the Surface Pro 4 doesn’t look or feel much different than the Pro 3 doesn’t mean Microsoft has been sitting back doing nothing for the past 18 months. Instead of going back to the design drawing board, Microsoft focused on improving how you actually interact with the Surface.”

The review goes on to note that the Surface Pro’s new Type Cover (sold seperately) is a huge improvement that helps productivity. They also note the improvements in the included Surface Pen. TechRadar is also impressed with the device.

“Has Microsoft at last crafted a tablet that can reasonably, without considerable compromise, replace your laptop? Short of going back to the drawing board on the battery, this looks as close as it’s going to get,” claims reviewer Joe Osbourne.

Even though the new Surface Pro has garnered more hype, there is still some excitement on Twitter over the iPad Pro.

Unlike the Surface Pro, one has to pay an extra $100 for Apple’s stylus, the Apple Pencil. While the iPad Pro will definitely attract consumer excitement this holiday season, it remains to be seen if Apple’s latest tablet will be a hit in the long-run. Are you going to buy the iPad Pro?
