WWE News: Triple H And Vince McMahon At Odds On Bringing Back Rey Mysterio?

In a report that surfaced yesterday, Rey Mysterio and Alberto Del Rio are open to WWE returns. Both left the company in the last three years, and both have kept up their successes outside of the WWE. Mysterio stayed in the Indies, while Del Rio jumped to Lucha Underground. Mysterio’s WWE departure wasn’t as tumultuous as Del Rio’s, but neither left a negative impact on the company.

Out of both men, one is creating an interesting conversation among WWE officials. According to Daily Wrestling News and Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Triple H and Vince McMahon are at odds on a comeback by Rey Mysterio.

“Word is that Vince McMahon is a lot more resistant to Rey returning than Triple H is. However, it was Vince who didn’t want to let go of Rey in the first place. Rey is still trying to get on WWE’s good side in hopes of a return.

Triple H and Vince both know WWE needs a Mexican Superstar right now and Triple H is more open to bringing Rey back for that reason. It could be several months before they make a decision on whether or not they want to bring him back but perhaps he could be a nice addition to WrestleMania32 in Texas.”

Mysterio’s main focus is coming back to the WWE because Lucha Underground is up in the air. If they were to land a deal with Netflix, then Mysterio’s decision on his wrestling future will change. The report notes that McMahon wants wrestlers to know that “grass isn’t always greener on the other side.” Mysterio would immediately enhance the talent on the main roster.

If he doesn’t, then Mysterio can do what Samoa Joe and Rhyno are currently working on. They’re simply at WWE NXT to work with the young generation of wrestlers. Full Sail University would mark out if Mysterio’s music hit at WWE NXT. However, that’s unlikely if he does go back to the WWE.

The report mentioned the lack of a Mexican presence, and WWE always likes to cover their bases in the respective demographics. Also, the WWE promotes diversity, so having a top Mexican wrestler is best for business. After Rey Mysterio lost his luster, Alberto Del Rio took over that role and did very well.

What will it take for Rey Mysterio and the WWE to agree on a deal? Money and a creative plan will count for two big variables. One thing is for sure, and that’s the impact he would make during a return. Mysterio is a future WWE Hall of Fame entrant. Anytime he’s on WWE TV is a special moment.
