Body Found At Churchill Downs, Foul Play Suspected

A body was found on Sunday morning inside of a barn at Churchill Downs. Police were called to the scene hours after I’ll Have Another won the Kentucky Derby and said that foul play was a “possibility” in the man’s death.

The Associated Press reports that homicide detectives were on the scene early Sunday morning. The body was discovered at barn No. 8, a few doors down from where the Kentucky Derby winner was kept.

The cause of death remains unknown.

Chris Poynter, the spokesman for the mayor’s office, said that body was a Hispanic male. Poynter did not give the man’s age or say what connection he had with the track.

USA Today notes that a week after last year’s Kentucky Derby the body of jockey michael Baze was found outside of churchill Downs. Baze was found in his Cadillac SUV. His death was ruled an accidental overdose.
