Louis Van Gaal Believes Pedro Signing Will Win Manchester United Premier League

Louis Van Gaal believes that the potential signing of Pedro will help to make his Manchester United players win the Premier League.

The Dutch manager made these comments to the Sun, via the Mirror, as he suggested that the Spanish striker’s pace and creativity is exactly what is missing from his United side.

Van Gaal explained, “Barcelona have the speed of Neymar and Messi – and they have Pedro behind them. We have to compete with that. We can win the title if we can buy players with speed and creativity. We have to improve our selection in that way. They are our competitors. Chelsea have Hazard, Willian, Oscar – that is speed and creativity.”

Over the weekend, Jaime Lorenzo, the president of Raqui San Isidro, Pedro’s first professional club, claimed that Pedro has already told his mother that he would be moving to England.

Lorenzo told Cadena Ser, via the Manchester Evening News, “The player was here working at a soccer school a few weeks back and his friends already know he is going. And the other day I saw Pedro’s mum in a furniture shop and she told me that he is going to England.”

It’s believed that Manchester United will finally make a bid of around £20 million ($30 million) to Barcelona for Pedro once the expected transfer of Angel Di Maria to Paris Saint-Germain is complete. Di Maria landed in Qatar on Sunday, where he is now due to go over the formalities of his deal with the French champions before finally signing on the dotted line.

Manchester United fans will be hopeful that the signing of Pedro from Barcelona will prove to be more fruitful than Di Maria’s from Real Madrid. Despite an impressive start to his career at Old Trafford, the Argentinian winger faltered badly after Christmas, and by the end of the season, it was widely assumed that he would be moving onto a new club.

United have been linked to Pedro all summer long. The 28-year-old struggled to get into the Barcelona side last season because the likes of Neymar, Luis Suarez, and Lionel Messi were ahead of him. However, the fact that he has previously won five La Liga titles, three Copa del Reys, and three Champions Leagues, including scoring in the final against Manchester United at Wembley in 2011, proves how much talent he has.
