Seattle Seahawks Rumors: Bruce Irvin Comments On Bobby Wagner Contract, Hint Of Jealousy Shown?

Seattle Seahawks rumors excited fans as Bobby Wagner signed a new contract. Seahawks linebacker Bruce Irvin had his own comments to make about the deal his teammate received, with a hint of envy coming out in a Twitter post. A report from ESPN confirmed that Wagner and the Seahawks had agreed to a 4-year, $43 million contract extension. It makes him the highest paid middle linebacker in the NFL.

Immediately following that announcement, Irvin took to Twitter to post about it. At first he seemed completely on board and supportive of Wagner’s new contract.

It was later that he would post a message that might make Seahawks fans think twice. It showed how he continues to feel slighted about not getting his own contract option picked up by the Seahawks during this past NFL offseason.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the Seahawks decided not to pick up the fifth-year option for Irvin, possibly making the 2015 NFL season his final in Seattle. There have been numerous Seattle Seahawks rumors since then, including Irving stating he plans to play for the Atlanta Falcons in 2016, but also that the team might eventually re-sign him to a new contract. That’s an issue for another day, even though Irvin would like to have a pay raise to stay with his current team.

On the surface, this might be an issue that simply blows over, but Irvin has been known to lose his cool before. Seahawks fans need only look at how the 2015 Super Bowl ended, where Irvin and several other players were involved in a brawl with the New England Patriots. While there is some blame that needs to go to Rob Gronkowski for that dust-up, most NFL fans remember the ugly role that Irvin played in it.

With all the offseason drama surrounding the Seahawks, including contract situations with Marshawn Lynch and Russell Wilson, fans just need to see the game started. The NFL preseason opens on August 14 for the Seahawks, when they host the Denver Broncos. By then, these Seattle Seahawks rumors should be a thing of the past, especially if Bruce Irvin just buckles down to prove why he deserves a huge deal as a free agent during the 2016 NFL offseason.
