David Price Trade Rumors: Bidding War For Price About To Begin Between Dodgers, Yankees, And Blue Jays

David Price trade rumors reveal a bidding war is about to begin.

A Price trade interests the New York Yankees, L.A. Dodgers, and Toronto Blue Jays, giving the Detroit Tigers a number of teams that might overpay for his services. A report from USA Today writer Bob Nightengale confirmed this on Wednesday morning (July 29), likely setting the Tigers up for a really nice deal. Will Price be available, though?

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the Blue Jays just traded for All-Star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, showing that they mean business before the July 31 MLB trade deadline. The team didn’t address its pitching needs with that deal, suggesting another one could come very soon. Adding a pitcher who has a 2.53 ERA through 21 starts could give the team a huge boost in its attempt to win the American League East.

Likewise, the L.A. Dodgers and New York Yankees also know the value of adding an elite starting pitcher. The important thing to take away from these current David Price trade rumors is that he is a two-month rental. Price will become a free agent at the end of the 2015 MLB season, making any deal to acquire him very risky. This season, he makes $19.75 million, but it is expected that Price will go north of $20 million per season when he hits free agency for the first time in his career.

While it might be too early to speculate on what the Dodgers, Yankees, or Blue Jays would be willing to give up, it’s never too early to suggest what the Detroit Tigers might want. The Tigers might ask for pitcher Luis Severino, outfielder Aaron Judge, or shortstop Jorge Mateo from the Yankees. From the Dodgers, they might demand someone like Corey Seager, and the Blue Jays still have pitcher Daniel Norris. In fact, all three teams have the assets to get a deal like this done, showing why a bidding war is likely coming before the deadline.

A three-game losing streak by the Tigers may have the front office finally realizing that it is time to start looking to the future. The team is still within 4-and-a-half games of the second wild card slot, though, so it’s a tough decision to make with two months still left in the MLB season. The Tigers just fell to fourth place in the AL Central, though, suggesting that the latest David Price trade rumors might actually lead to something. Now, fans can start debating about which team has the best package of prospects to offer.
