YouTube Kiddie Porn Panic: Texas Mom Finds Video of Son on Explicit Website

It’s no surprise that the internet can be a dark and scary place sometimes, and a Texas mom learned the very hard way that even innocent videos posted to YouTube can sometimes place a family in a frightening situation.

Kelli Clark of Katy’s son is now 9 years old, but when he was two, his mom took a video of him dancing in the rain in a diaper. The clip was intended for family and friends, but soon, the number of YouTube views climbed from 50 to more than 3,000. If that was your kid you might think, “oh, everyone finds my child adorable, just like me!”

And who wouldn’t? Clark didn’t think much of the sudden interest in her son’s diaper dancing, but she then received an alarming message from Sweden. According to local news sources, Clark says that the Swedish woman informed her that the clip had been posted to a private YouTube group run by a man with some shady connections to material involving minors.

Clark was stunned and horrified, and she tells the news station that she even went to the FBI for help with the situation. But she says that despite strong laws involving minors and unauthorized content, the agency was unable to do anything for her due to the fact that the man distributing the videos was not distributing any videos he shot himself:

“I went to look. I was totally shocked. From then, I called the FBI and they couldn’t do anything about it because they weren’t his videos. They were other people’s videos that he had collected.”

Clark then set the video to private, but as the old cliche goes- it’s out there. Parents who are worried about YouTube clips of their children being appropriated for less than savory means are advised to only give access to such content directly to friends and family by setting the content to private- as Clark eventually did.
