Watch British Open Golf Live Online: 3rd Round, And Some 2nd Round, Play Streaming From St. Andrews

The Open Championship, also known as The British Open, is golf’s oldest and most traditional major tournament, and golf aficionados can watch live online as Third Round play in the 2015 edition gets underway Saturday morning — a day that may include the biggest name in golf, Tiger Woods, but not for the reasons the 39-year-old American might like.

To find out how to watch the Third Round of the 2015 British Open Championship live online, see the information in the final paragraph of this article. Coverage begins at 11 a.m. local time at St. Andrews, Scotland — 6 a.m. United States Eastern Time, 3 a.m. Pacific.

The first Open Championship was played in 1860, almost two decades before Britain’s other most-traditional sporting events — the Wimbledon tennis championships and the England vs. Australia Ashes cricket series, which both started in 1877. The Open also predates the FA Cup, the world’s oldest domestic soccer tournament, by 11 years.

The performance of three-time British Open winner Tiger Woods, once the world’s best golfer by a wide margin but who has faded drastically with age, was one of the major talking points heading into this year’s tournament, which began play on Thursday.

Woods himself announced that he was “close” to regaining his top form as he headed into The Open, but his first round 76, including five bogeys and only one birdie, was the worst he has ever played at St. Andrews, and he did little to recover on a Friday that lost the first three-and-half hours of potential playing time to rain.

In fact, the rain may end up forcing Woods to complete his second round on Saturday — which will likely be the only way that Woods plays at all on Saturday, because he appeared on Friday in serious danger of missing the cut.

Golf’s latest young sensation, 21-year-old American Jordan Spieth, came into The Open with Masters and U.S. Open triumphs under his belt — the first golfer since Woods himself 13 years ago to enter The Open with a chance to achieve a calendar year Grand Slam.

But Spieth, who fired a five-under 67 in Thursday’s First Round to stand two off the pace set by Dustin Johnson, appeared certain to be forced into Saturday to finish his second round.
