TNA News: Kurt Angle To Have Another Neck Operation — Will He Appear On TNA TV Ever Again?

One week ago, former TNA Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle underwent neck surgery for a benign tumor in his neck and, of course, the surgery was a success. Originally, Angle was only supposed to miss four to six weeks of action. But now, it looks like he’ll be out for even longer, as he now needs another neck surgery.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has reported that Angle is scheduled to undergo another neck operation tomorrow, but he doesn’t know exactly why Angle needs a second operation.

“Kurt Angle is having another surgery tomorrow. I don’t know the whole story, I’ll hopefully know it tomorrow morning, or tomorrow afternoon. But, something to do with the [first] surgery, he’s got to have another surgery. Which doesn’t sound good to me.”

Angle has had a long history of neck issues. Of course, he famously won his Olympic gold medal in 1996 with a broken neck, and in 2003, immediately following his WrestleMania 19 main-event against Brock Lesnar, Angle missed several months of action due to him needing a neck operation.

With TNA likely going out of business after this fall, and due to the fact that TNA tapes all of their episodes in advance, it’s possible that we’ll never see Kurt Angle on TNA television ever again.

Nobody knows what will happen with Angle if and when TNA goes away. Some are hoping that he’ll eventually return to WWE, have one more match, and then hang up his singlet for good. But it does seem that WWE doesn’t want him back, whether it’s due to his injury history, his substance abuse problems, or because of the fact that he bashed both Triple H and Vince McMahon following his WWE exit in 2006, calling Vince McMahon “the devil,” and saying that he “doesn’t respect Triple H as a human being.” Of course, Angle later apologized for those remarks, but, both Triple H and McMahon may still be holding a grudge.

Angle has said that he wants to return to WWE before his in-ring career is over. He also has said that he’d be interested in being a trainer at the WWE Performance Center in Florida if WWE offered him the gig, which he would probably be great at.

There are other options for Angle if TNA closes down and WWE doesn’t want him. He can wrestle for New Japan Pro Wrestling, or, maybe Ring of Honor would bring him in to do a few matches. But, whoever ends up taking Angle won’t have him for long, as he has said that he plans on retiring by next year.
