Susan Boyle warned against Hollywood makeover
Susan Boyle, who you probably already know, (the Britains’ Got Talent sensation heard here and seen perform here) is urged to resist a Hollywood aka “Simon Cowell” makeover by Britains’ Got Talent jugde Amanda Holden.
As previously reported Susan Boyle’s audition has been seen by over 20,000,000 times on YouTube. She has already performed on several US television shows via satellite link-up and Oprah Winfrey has invited Susan Boyle on Oprah’s show. (Maybe that’s what Oprah is going to tell us, when she tweets her first tweet later today.)
Demi Moore also admitted that she is a big fan of Susan Boyle on Twitter.
Amanda Holden told The Daily Mirror:
“I won’t let Simon Cowell take her to his dentist and I certainly won’t let her near his hairdresser,”
“She needs to stay exactly as she is because that’s the reason we love her.
“She just looks like anybody who could live on your street.
“The minute we turn her into a glamourpuss is when it’s spoilt.
“That can perhaps come later when she has signed the album deal and conquered America.
“For now we’ll keep her exactly as she is because that’s why we’ve all fallen in love with her.
“I think it’s the underdog thing.”
Should Simon Cowell whiten Susan Boyle’s teeth and give her a new hairstyle?

No, definitely not.

It's okay to pluck the eyebrows and give her a hairstyle. We don't want to change her into a glamourpuss – just make her a bit more pleasant to the eye. I'm sorry, she seems like a lost child who has been found – time for mum to brush her hair out and take away the tears…

wow – nicely said DarkSide. I agree.

Of course Susan Boyle should get a makeover : She IS a star, so why not look like one?

Ralph, they are only at the auditions stages of the competiton – she hasn't won it yet
She has to compete in the competition and also she has to be signed up to a record deal.
Upon signing the record deal thats when the transformation will start to be done and not during the competition.

She should get a makeover if she wants one. She sounds fantastic, looks or no. And if she's going to get her dream come true, why not make her look ( and feel) good too? Do we really need her to look frumpy in order for us to appreciate her?
Apr 17, 2009
she shouldn't because she's original and unique in her own way! They can make little changes, but they shouldn't dye her hair or use surgery to remove her wrinkles or anything! That would just make her like any other person trying to make it big, piling on pounds of makeup, etc etc. One of her charms is that she is humble and unassuming and I hope that the fame does not go to her head (which I doubt) but also I'm hoping that other people don't try to make it go to her head!

Susan Boyle should NOT have a major makeover. Maybe tweeked a little, like her eyebrows and get rid of the gray in her hair, nothing else for now. The fact that she is just average and has this amazing voice is what is so special. She has been blessed with an angelic voice.
Never judge a book by its cover.

isn't Holden a patronising sow!

I agree. She shouldn't be glamourpussed, that would be fake. But what woman doesn't enjoy being pampered. And if anyone deserves a little pampering, it is Susan. She selflessly gave up everything to take care of her mother. Gotta love her just for that! So it's time for her to get some of that caring back. She doesn't need pounds of makeup and lip gloss. But she does deserve to have a facial, a little bit of makeup. Everyone does feel better when they look better, that's just a fact. There's nothing wrong with that.

I hope she doesn't fall for any “makeover”. She's real. And, she's a real talent. She has singular beauty of spirit that shines through. The thunderous applause from audience, the joy in the panel is proof: “if it ain't broke, don't fix”. She is the real deal, a perfect package as is.
What made is so heart-warming for me too, that she “defied all odds”, she followed her vision. Despite age, despite being unemployed, despite not being what “convention” says about appearance for performers.
Even her choice of songs: Dream, for me, punctuates her faith and perseverance. Her charming innocence spoke to me. He magical sense of humor and goodwill despite the “greeting” she got from the panel and audience speak to me.
Orchids to you.
Orchids to you for being an example of using God-Given talents and persevering.

I think not to change the way she is but dammit, shes a woman and when she finally could get afford to enjoy those tiny things that many womens enjoys; going to hairdresser , beautyciant, get new clothes and etc etc. That doesn´t mean she would need to make drastic changes in her appearance. Let her enjoy fully from the succses she deserves and if she always wanted to look “better” let her do so. I hope people really won´t judge her only by her looks “pimped” or not, just listen her and let her sing to your hearts.
Susan you have 1 more admirer in Finland, go girl, you will make it!

Susan should certainly consider a makeover, but only because she wants to, not because everyone else wants her to. There is nothing wrong with taking care of yourself in appearance by having an attractive hairstyle, nice teeth, etc. No one here is suggesting anything proposterous like plastic surgery, in which case I would say that's ridiculous.
As reality has it, hair color, and a nice hair style is very commonplace for every day people in other than 3rd world countries, and could likely add to her own self confidence. Some people, despite their talent, are still subject to the circumstances and culture that surround them all their lives. At 47, Susan's local influence may have had the largest impact on how she carries herself on the outside, but this is superficial for who God has made her on the inside, as we see in her talent.
Let's face the facts, she hasn't been kissed for a reason, and I'm not saying that to be a jerk. Typically, only the pretty girls get asked to dance. Regardless, it's the people like Simon who could stand to profit from Susan's talent, who understand the importance of marketing more than Susan, and for this reason would naturally want to make her more marketable because to have physically attractive appeal is certainly marketable. Reality is that without hearing Susan's gifted voice, and without knowing who she is, who would buy her recordings if she appears on the cover of a DVD with the same hairdo and eyebrows that she had on the audition?

Leave Susan Boyle as she is! Don't change a hair on her head.
Apr 17, 2009
Please don't change, Susan, — that's why we love you — you are so sweet and a breath of fresh air.
What a fabulous voice you have — I can't stop listening to you.

I will kill Simon if he changes one single thing about Susan Boyle!!!! Hasn't DarkSideDE ever heard of a famous American actress named Shirley Booth. That is who she reminds me of in appearance and Shirley Booth was one of our greatest stages actresses. Don't touch the gray hair, don't touch the eyebrows. You heard her sing and that's all you cared about then. Why change anything now?
Stay the way you are Susan Boyle. You are a lovely woman with an angelic voice. Also, a darn good blues singer from your Cry Me A River!!!!!
Apr 17, 2009
Susan is just a natural and talented woman without all the beautfying means most women use to enhance their appearance, I see horrendous sights walking through city centres every day usually dragging along 4 kids, they make Susan look positivly attractive…just appreciate a woman without all the frills but with a fantastic voice.
Apr 17, 2009
she won my heart and taught us all a valuable lesson in the process. I look forward to seeing her lovely smile and hearing her amazing voice for years to come. If anyone can melt the heart of those judges and that audience in the sapn of 3 lines of a song she can do anything she'd like to. I do hope she pampers her self a bit and enjoys each moment ahead. She deserves it and each of us with a heart would long for nothing less. we have a great deal to learn from her.
Apr 17, 2009
Yes, she has dedicated her life to her mother. She needs pampered, she looks older than 47, probaly the stress. I would say, Something like the show ten years younger would do. Nothing, that would alter her ” cuteness”, but something to maybe make Susan get that first kiss.
Apr 17, 2009
Other people who been in similar competitions have changed their looks during the competition in order to look more the part, and I'm all for it. I think Susan needs to match her beautiful voice a little bit more; it adds to the beauty and fantasy of the music.
Apr 17, 2009
If I were Susan, I'd get a makeover. I'm speaking as a 50 year old plus size woman. That would be part of my dream. But I think Susan Boyle is the one with the dream here, and the decision is entirely hers to make. That incredible voice and her extraordinary personality are what make her so special, so whatever she decides about hair, makeup, clothes is fine with me.
Apr 17, 2009
I feel very angry that the producer of the “charity CD” didn't TELL anyone about her 10 years ago. The world has missed out, probably because she wasn't considered “marketable”. If there is a God in heaven , he is laughing at “our” vanity. He gave the world a gift and it didn't appreciate it. What else is new.
Apr 18, 2009
I honestly don't think it's any of my damn business what Susan Boyle chooses to do or not to do. She dreamed of being a professional singer and now she has it at hand. I'm most happy for her success and whatever she chooses to do with it. I just hope she gets a CD out with some more of these smoky, classic, and I will add sexy songs that sound so refreshingly good in these days of manufactured voices, talentless rap and robotic lip sincs. -mike in Texas

If she wants a makeover let her have one, if not, don't force it. Who cares if she's attractive? It obviously has nothing to do with her talent
Apr 18, 2009
You forgot one question. Who on earth has not already heard of this amazing woman? And who on earth who could possibly ever matter?
