Paul Azinger: Tiger Woods Was An ‘Embarrassment’ At The Masters

Tiger Woods was once the best golfer in the world. Now, according to analyst Paul Azinger, he’s an embarrassment to the sport.

Tiger Woods gave his worst performance at Masters in his career (he finished 40th at five over par) but that’s not what’s bothering Azinger. It’s the temper trantrum who had on the 16th hole when he kicked his golf club after a bad shot.

Azinger was asked about the incident on Mad Dog Radio. Azinger said:

“Tiger’s antics this week were an embarrassment to the game, to the membership at Augusta… I was really disappointed to see him carry on that way. He’s not trying to endear himself to anybody. And after he won Bay Hill I thought, ‘here we go again, this is going to be Tiger just kicking butt and taking names.’ I don’t know. I thought he acted like the south end of a northbound mule.”

Azinger said that he also wasn’t impressed with Tiger’s performance. According to the former pro, Woods may be one of the most skilled players in golf but his mental game is holding him back.

Azinger added:

“I think his brain is full of swing thoughts, not swing feelings. He thinks he needs to know it all so he can fix what’s wrong, but that’s not what happened here. When it started to go off he didn’t have a go-to shot, there was nothing he could do. I can’t compare my career to Tiger Woods’ career for sure, but I’ll say this, in the 28 years I’ve played golf for a living I’ve never been as lost as he looked out there.”

Do you think Tiger Woods will return to the number one spot in the world?
