Fans can watch the Mexico vs. Ecuador soccer match live online and see whether El Tri can follow up its inspired tie with Chile with another strong performance in the 2015 Copa America.

Coming into the tournament, much talk centered on the so-called “B squad” that Mexico’s coach, Miguel Herrera, had assembled. With his focus on the Gold Cup later this summer, Herrera left a number of stars off the roster for the Copa America, including Javier “Chicharito” Hernández, Carlos Vela, Hector Herrera, Andres Guardado, and Hector Moreno.
Despite being shorthanded, Mexico fought to a 3-3 draw with Chile on Monday, a contest that Herrera said showed Mexico’s character.

“The team was much better, it didn’t lower its guard or stop fighting,” said Herrera after the game. “We’ve spoken about it since the squad got together and we showed our attitude. The result can go with or against you, but you can’t give in; the team is clear on that.”

Mexico will now have a chance to build on the performance. El Tri will be facing Ecuador on Friday at 5 p.m. ET (6 p.m. local time) from Chile.

For many, the draw against Chile seemed to validate Herrera’s insistence that he has brought a team capable of winning the Copa America.

Herrera himself said it was good to see the team break out after being stymied against Bolivia.

“We brought people who score goals,” Herrera said. “Unfortunately, against Bolivia we weren’t convincing, but today we attacked well and put it together. The prize for pushing forward is goals.”

Those who watch the Mexico vs. Ecuador match live online will see a pivotal contest. A win would give Mexico a draw through to the quarterfinal, and even a draw could be enough depending on how Group C shakes out.

But the contest is far from guaranteed, ESPNFC noted.

“The worry is that Ecuador could take advantage of the space left by Mexico through rapid forwards Enner Valencia, Jefferson Montero, Fidel Martinez and Miller Bolanos, all of whom are good counter-attacking players. However, Ecuador has shown very little so far this Copa America going forward and seems to be missing Antonio Valencia’s presence both on the field and as an experienced and authoritative influence off it.”

Ecuador comes into the match after two losses, a 2-0 defeat in the opening match and a 3-2 loss to Bolivia on Monday.
