Watch live online to see if Sri Lanka and Pakistan will play cricket at all on the second scheduled day of their First Test Match in Galle, Sri Lanka — just 24 hours after heavy rains completely washed out play on Day 1, with umpires pulling stumps before even the coin toss could take place.
To learn how to watch Day 2 of the Sri Lanka vs. Pakistan Test cricket match live online, see the information at the bottom of this article. Because Day 1 play was cancelled due to rain, first ball on Day 2 has been pushed up by 15 minutes, to allow an extra over or two.
Start time for the streaming video broadcast will now come at 9:45 a.m. local time on Thursday at Galle International Stadium. That’s 12:15 a.m. United States Eastern Time, 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, Pacific Time.
But will the longtime cricket dance partners — who have played 389 Test Matches against each other since 1952 — even get an over in on Thursday morning?
The forecast in Galle looks grim, with thunderstorms predicted to last all morning long and well into the afternoon. But there may be a brief opening late in the morning, between 11 a.m. and noon local time in Sri Lanka, so whether the umpires will see fit to let play begin could depend on the degree to which the forecast downpours subside at that time.
The delays must be particularly excruciating for the Sri Lanka team, which has not played a single game of cricket as a national side since they were eliminated from the quarterfinals of the Cricket World Cup by South Africa on March 17.
Pakistan toured Bangladesh in April and early May, and though the team lost all three One Day International games and a T20 match on the tour, they finished on a high note, drawing the First Test and easily winning the Second.
Even if play is washed out again, there is still a long way to go on the Pakistan tour of Sri Lanka, which is set to include three Test Matches, a five-ODI series, and a pair of T20 matches.
