WWE News: CM Punk Praises Two WWE Legends, Helps Colt Cabana Promote Upcoming Wrestling Event

CM Punk hasn’t had a whole lot of good things to say about the wrestling business — WWE in-particular — over the past year, and possibly longer than that. As a matter of fact, it does seem like Punk is trying to avoid any WWE-related talk, as he’s trying to focus on his new career with the UFC. But, Punk did give a shout out to two WWE legends who helped him get going in his early WWE days on Monday, as he thanked both JBL and Edge on Twitter.

Back in 2008, CM Punk cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on Edge to win his first ever World Heavyweight Championship. Although Punk’s first World Title reign in WWE wasn’t the best or the most memorable, Punk has a lot respect for Edge for doing what he did that night.

JBL was also someone that Punk feuded with early in his WWE run, and like Edge, JBL wasn’t afraid to put over Punk, as he was nearing the end of his in-ring wrestling career.

There have been reports that Punk’s tweet was a passive-aggressive shot at Triple H, who Punk isn’t a big fan of. But in the past, Punk hasn’t been afraid to publicly go after WWE’s Chief Operating Officer for trying to kill his momentum in late 2011, so it’s unlikely that he would go after him in a passive-aggressive way.

In other CM Punk-related news, Colt Cabana is promoting an upcoming wrestling event for Revolution Pro Wrestling in London, England and has called upon Punk to help him promote his match, where he’ll be taking on Lord Gideon Grey and Rishi Ghosh.

In the video below, it’s clear that CM Punk hasn’t lost any of his mic-skills, but Punk does use some pretty salty language. So, if you’re not a fan of that kind of thing, then, well, you’ve been warned.

As for Punk’s UFC debut, it looks like it’ll be taking place in late-fall at the earliest. However, there’s not even been a rumor of a potential opponent. Most people believe that it’ll be someone that has the same experience-level as Punk, but others have reported that it’ll be an MMA veteran that the fans will know. But one thing is for sure, there are plenty of people who want to fight Punk in his UFC debut, as they believe that it’ll be an easy fight, and a big payday.
