WWE News: Kevin Nash To Have A Retirement Match? He Wants It, Does WWE?

Any athlete in any sport has a hard time with retirement. Most sports are a young man’s game, so when father time catches up with an athlete, they may not want to hang it up. They’re inevitably forced to because they can no longer compete with the youth in their sport. However, in wrestling, it’s the opposite. It helps that it’s entertainment and not real competition, however, like in real sports. there are people who hang around too long.

Retirements in wrestling almost never hold up, and most wrestlers, regardless of their age, always think that they can have one more match. Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan — who are both in their 60’s — still think that they can get back into the ring and steal the show.

Now, it appears that Kevin Nash is the latest WWE Hall of Famer that wants to have one last match. Nash — who is 55 — hasn’t wrestled a one-on-one match for WWE since 2011, when he had a ladder match with his good friend Triple H.

Nash went on Twitter Monday night, and sent out an idea for his retirement match. It looks like he wants WWE to build up the match on the WWE Network by doing a documentary series on Nash’s preparation for it, similar to HBO’s 24/7 series.

Despite Nash’s physical limitations, he’s still in phenomenal shape, and, when he dyes his hair, he doesn’t look all that different than he did 10 or 15 years ago. So — unlike guys like Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan — Nash looks like he belongs in the ring.

Nash didn’t mention who he would like to face in his retirement match, and there’s really no one around that he’s had history with, unless he wants to face Triple H again. Also, there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of demand for Nash to return to the ring due to the fans at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony not chanting for Nash to have one more match, as they did for guys like “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Hulk Hogan.

At this past year’s WrestleMania, Nash got involved in the Sting vs. Triple H match, and was somewhat physical. So, he’s still able to at least get in there and mix it up, but, there’s a chance that WWE may not be interested in having Nash wrestle one more time. But, on the other hand, Nash is good friends with Triple H, so he may be able to convince “The Game” that a Kevin Nash retirement match will be a big deal.
