Want to make friends with DARPA?

darpa_fb

Yes folks, the people who brought you the Internet are now just a Facebook page away. It would seem that DARPA, The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, has taken up residency on the world favorite social media service, Facebook.

Other than a pretty awesome photo gallery that covers the agency’s decades of work there doesn’t seem to be much going on. Even the message wall activity seems to be pretty boring for such a high profile government agency. Mind you Noah Shachtman who I presume is the person in charge of the DARPA page has over a 140 messages waiting in his inbox.

  1. Poking around a bit, I found a DARPA 50th anniversary video, and learned something in the process. The video claimed that the mouse was one of DARPA's techincal advances. I had always assumed that the mouse had come from Xerox PARC, along with everything else that Steve Jobs and Bill Gates appropriated, but further research indicated the the first mouse came from the Stanford Research Institute, and its development was funded by DARPA.
