WWE News: Final Card And Matches For ‘Payback’ — New Tag Match Announced, Eight Total Matches

For a Pay-Per-View that had only two matches on the card and was now being overshadowed by a returning event (Elimination Chamber), Payback has truly turned into a stacked card. As WWE SmackDown ended on Thursday night, two more matches were made official and that now brings the total to eight so let’s check out the final card for Payback.

When the week started, the Fatal 4-Way for the WWE World Heavyweight Title and the “I Quit” match for the United States Title were all we had. Then, four matches were added on Monday Night RAW, and they were exactly as rumors had everyone expecting.

Now, SmackDown has officially added two more which were also kind of expected, but it brings the grand total number of matches to eight for Sunday.

This grudge match is one everyone knew was coming, and it’s basically so Bray Wyatt has something to do. Well, it’s not like Ryback has much to do, either. Still, Wyatt has been in limbo for over a month now, and he needed someone to mess with, so it was Ryback’s turn.

WWE still wants Wyatt to be seen as a strong force in the company, but they won’t squash Ryback either. This could be where we see a recently reunited Luke Harper and Erick Rowan come and help out their old father-figure for a full-on Wyatt Family reunion.

Naomi likely would have gone on to face Nikki Bella for the Divas Title, but WWE appears to have other plans in place. Now, Tamina Snuka is back and teaming with Naomi to take on Nikki and her sister Brie at Payback.

The Divas’ division has really gotten rather lackluster since the retirement of AJ Lee and then Paige going out with injury (movie filming). Hopefully, Paige will be back soon and things can pick up again.

With the addition of these two matches, the card for WWE Payback looks like this.

  • WWE World Heavyweight Title Fatal 4-Way: Seth Rollins (c) vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton
  • United States Title “I Quit” Match: John Cena (c) vs. Rusev
  • WWE Tag Team Titles 2-out-of-3 Falls: The New Day (c) vs. Brass Ring Club
  • Dolph Ziggler vs. Sheamus
  • Bray Wyatt vs. Ryback
  • King Barrett vs. Neville
  • Tamina & Naomi vs. Bella Twins
  • Kickoff Match: Mega Powers 2.0 (Macho Mandow & Curtis Axel) vs. The Ascension

The final card for WWE Payback appears to be finalized and set in place. There really shouldn’t be any changes between now and Sunday, but rumors are still flying of the Wyatts coming back, a possible reunion of The Shield, and more. We can only wait and see.
