Liam Payne is one of the primary songwriters for One Direction, and he is in Los Angeles with Louis Tomlinson. While there, Liam Payne has been tweeting about writing the album. While One Direction fans are eager to hear the new material, they have a long history of suggesting songs directly to Liam Payne. Will one of their ideas inspire Liam Payne?
Although fans have been tweeting ideas for the new One Direction album recently, there are a whole separate set of tweets directed at Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson. This makes sense because it is common knowledge that Liam Payne is one of the primary songwriters (and perhaps also song directors) for One Direction.
About May’s songwriting direction, the Huffington Post U.K. states that the main focus seems to be writing about how much they hate Zayn Malik. Due to an ongoing Twitter war between Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, and Naughty Boy — things have gotten nasty, and it is affecting the music.
Obviously, with the drama surrounding writing a hate song about Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne could use some fan suggestions for songwriting One Direction’s fifth album.
Another day of writing today , really working hard on this next album . Hope you lot love it !!

Interestingly, as early as 2012, fans have been tweeting to Liam Payne that they want to hear songs about “how fame changes people.” Since that time, the fan suggestions for One Direction have only grown more intense, funny, and just plain weird.
Bizarre song themes directed at Liam Payne on Twitter include “a song about beards” and “songs about sleeping,” Another oddball song suggestion tweeted to Liam Payne was from @HaroldsPizzax who states, “Beyonce should write a song about the 1D fandom.”
As usual, there are plenty of requests on Twitter asking Liam Payne to write songs about the Larry Stylison “relationship” between Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson (which is simply a rumored joke).
Niall Horan is not forgotten in songwriting requests by fans, and they ask that Liam Payne write lyrics surrounding the incident where Niall fell off stage. Song titles include “Falling” and “Oh Noooo… Niall!”
Moving in another direction, @EtcPB thinks Liam Payne and the gents should write Bollywood-based songs. In particular, it is suggested they adapt a song from one of the most anticipated movies of 2015 in India, PIKU 2015. The song from that movie recommended to Liam Payne directly is “Journey Song” or “Hum Chale Baharon Mein.”
Of course, if there was ever a time to sell yourself as a songwriter to Liam Payne, it appears that now is the time. Fans are quick to promote other talent acts — and tweet them directly to Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson. For instance, one fan tweets Liam Payne with a video by songwriter Sandra Hunter.
In the end, no matter what fans said they wanted, there seem to be two themes that dominate in tweets to Liam Payne about writing the fifth One Direction album. Namely, they ask Liam Payne to write songs that “inspire… instead of just writing about the things girls like.” Fans also want Liam Payne and the rest of One Direction to write about their “journey” and “a song about going on a long road trip/adventure together not knowing or caring where you are going.”
In the opinion of this author, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson should write a song about being supportive of people living with disabilities. In One Direction’s home country of the United Kingdom, they are currently negotiating cutting benefits to some citizens that have disabilities — and potentially causing extreme poverty to vulnerable members of society.
In truth, this author may be sending Liam Payne a biased songwriting suggestion — since she is a legally blind writer.
