Khan Academy Releases iPad App

Salman Khan is on a mission to educate the world. The MIT alum founded the Khan Academy, an online website that contains more than 27,000 lectures about math, science, history, and several other subjects, with the aim of giving every person in the world the opportunity to get an education. The Khan Academy extended its reach today by releasing an iPad app.

The app, and all of its resources, are free.

The Khan Academy describes the app by saying:

“Our iPad app is the best way to view Khan Academy’s complete library of over 2,700 videos. We cover a massive number of topics, including K-12 math, science topics such as biology, chemistry, and physics, and even the humanities with playlists on finance and history… It doesn’t matter if you are a student, teacher, home-schooler, principal, adult returning to the classroom after 20 years, or a friendly alien just trying to get a leg up in earthly biology; Khan Academy’s materials and resources are available to you completely free of charge.”

Tuaw.com reports that the app will let you download videos so that you can learn on the go. The app will also sync with your Khan Academy account so that you can track your progress.

Khan Academy Lead Designer Jason Rosoff, said:

“If you’re going on a road trip or if you’re taking mass transit and you don’t have cell service, or whatever, you can get the content.”
