Rihanna And Beyoncé Are Spotify Queens Of Pop
Rihanna and Beyoncé have broken many chart records over the past ten years and have dominated the pop music scene, along with Katy Perry and Taylor Swift. Both Rihanna and Beyoncé now have something else they could brag about: Both of them have topped Spotify’s list of favorite female artists. We’ll let Rolling Stone explain.
“In celebration of International Women’s Day, Spotify dug through the music streaming service’s data to break down who are ‘the most popular female artists on the planet.’ After all the streams were tabulated, Spotify revealed on that Beyoncé was the most popular singer among female listeners, while Rihanna was the favorite female artists among all Spotify users.”
This is great news, especially because Beyoncé and Rihanna have always shown mutual respect towards each other. Rihanna is currently in the top five on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart with “FourFiveSeconds,” a duet she sings with Kanye West. Billboard, who gave the song a mostly positive review, notes how different it is from Rihanna‘s previous hits.
“The song, off her forthcoming eighth studio album, is a departure from 2012’s Unaplogetic. A plucky acoustic guitar complements Rihanna’s vocals. ‘I think I’ve had enough/ Might get a little drunk/ I say what’s on my mind/ I might do a little time,’ she sings on the opening lines of the track. ‘Cause all of my kindness/ Is taken for weakness.’ “
Beyoncé just finished a pivotal 2014 with her self-titled album not only topping the charts, but garnering a couple of Grammy awards. Beyoncé didn’t win the prize for Album of the Year. This caused Kanye West to almost have a fit on stage, since he thought Beck didn’t deserve to win. Not only did this bring bad attention to Kanye West, but it caused a backlash against Beyoncé as well. According to EurWeb, even Beyoncé’s friend, 50 Cent, believed Beck deserved the Grammy for Album of the Year.
“He produced the record, wrote the record, it’s eleven producers on Beyoncé’s album. Kanye being a producer and a writer should see that. I don’t think people care about those establishments anymore.”
Beyoncé should survive any backlash Kanye West caused, as well as others complaining that she is overrated. She appears to be taking some time off the music scene to let people miss her music. Rihanna, on the other hand, has been teasing her album. According to Capital FM, Rihanna just released two new songs. Wouldn’t it be great to see Rihanna and Beyoncé perform together?
