Siri Added to Jailbroken iOS5 Through Spire Hack

Siri, the digital executive assistant which was released by Apple on the iPhone 4s, is reportedly being made available to those outside the 4s world. There have been attempts before, but this is the closest we can get for now.

iOS hackers Grant Paul and Ryan Petrich, wrote on their blog about their lates innovation called Spire.

According to Paul, “Spire is new tool for installing Siri on previously unsupported, but jailbroken, devices,”

The 100MB download is available through Cydia and it will add Siri to any iOS5 device.

It may be too good to be true though, as the addition of Siri to your jailbroken device requires a bit of technical skills.

“Apple still requires authorization to use Siri, so information from an iPhone 4S is still required,” Paul wrote. “To insert this information, Spire allows you to enter your own proxy server address.”

Why release it in this format? Paul speculates that it just may be impossible to beat the authorization requirement Apple has put into the Siri system. If you already own an iPhone 4s or at least know someone who does, you are able to share the authorization through your own proxy and enjoy Siri easily (albeit with a bit of a techie background)

Down the line, it’s possible that there will be a way to pay for space on a Siri proxy, it was speculated by Paul, and he is encouraging those with no how to give it a try.

Do you plan on Jailbreaking your iPhone to run Siri?
