Barack Obama Treats His Family To Two Costly Five-Star Meals In Just 24 Hours

It’s no secret to most Americans that Barack Obama and his family like to eat well. And why shouldn’t they? After all, aren’t the president and the first lady entitled to eat well from time-to-time?

From time-to-time maybe, but what about two five-star, highly exclusive eateries in just 24 hours, munching away at meals that cost a reported $180 per head and more?

Having eaten at one of Hawaii’s most exclusive restaurants, the Commander-in-Chief took the first lady, and the other two “first ladies,” his daughters, to one of the island’s most exclusive and world-renowned Japanese restaurants, Nobu.

The restaurant, located inside the hip Waikiki Parc Hotel, saw a huge Obama motorcade parked outside, while Barack Obama and his family enjoyed such delicacies as butter-poached lobster, roasted duck, and seared foie gras.

As reported by Fox News, Nobu’s website calls it “world renowned for its award winning innovative ‘New Style’ Japanese cuisine,” adding, “It continues to offer savvy diners across the globe a culinary adventure. Nobu Waikiki is yet another canvas for Chef Nobu Matsuhisa to display his legendary dishes, such as Black Cod Miso and Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeño.”

On Thursday night, the Obamas visited Vintage Cave, another exclusive eatery, where a 15-course, fixed-price meal costs a cool $295 a person, wine pairings add another $130 a head, and the total tab often nears $1,000 after taxes.

The underground restaurant features an extensive art collection, including an 18-piece series of Picasso paintings, Les Deux Femmes.

So it’s no expense spared then, as Barack and the Obamas enjoy their 17-day holiday in the president’s birth state. They will return to Washington, D.C. on Sunday.

The Obamas kicked off their New Year with a snorkeling trip to at Hanauma Bay, and then enjoyed some shaved ice at Island Snow, a shop near their rental home in a Kailua neighborhood just outside of Honolulu.
