WWE News: Chris Jericho To Return In The 2015 Royal Rumble?

Future WWE hall of famer Chris Jericho has said in the past that he doesn’t plan on participating in the 2015 Royal Rumble. Well, it appears that Jericho will be in Philadelphia on January 25, which is the day and site of the 2015 Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

Jericho will be moderating a fan Q&A with Bruce Prichard and Eric Bischoff, in which Bischoff and Prichard will answer questions about the Monday night war. The Q&A will be held at a local Dave & Busters in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the afternoon of the Rumble.

Yesterday, on Chris Jericho’s podcast Talk is Jericho, Prichard and Bischoff asked Jericho if he’d come to Philadelphia to be the moderator. Jericho agreed, but hasn’t addressed anything regarding an appearance at the Royal Rumble. It’s pretty hard to believe that if Jericho is going to be in Philadelphia the day of the Rumble, and is free, that WWE hasn’t at least contacted him about being one of their annual surprise entrants.

In the past several months, Jericho has ruled out working at WrestleMania 31, as he’ll be nearing the end of an international tour with his band Fozzy.

Jericho made a surprise return back at the 2013 Royal Rumble, where he entered the match as the number two entrant and lasted for nearly the entire match. Before Jericho appeared on-camera, no one even knew that Jericho was there — well, besides WWE management and the other wrestlers. It was probably the best, and most surprising, return of Jericho’s career.

Back on December 15, Chris Jericho hosted WWE Monday Night RAW, and was taken out by the returning Brock Lesnar. It’s unlikely that WWE will set up a match between Jericho and Lesnar as a result; however, with Lesnar possibly losing his WWE title at the Royal Rumble, he’ll be in need of a WrestleMania opponent. So, if Jericho changes his mind about working at WrestleMania, we could see Brock Lesnar take on Chris Jericho, which is definitely something that Jericho would be interested in coming back for.

One thing is for sure, if Jericho is coming back, he definitely won’t announce his intention to return to WWE before he does. Unlike a lot of wrestlers that come and go, Jericho likes to do everything he can to keep his returns a secret. Sometimes he’s successful, sometimes he’s not.

Surely WWE wants Jericho to compete in the Royal Rumble match, but ultimately it’s up to Jericho. If he feels that WWE has a good idea for him, he’ll be back.
