New ‘Final Fantasy XV’ Trailer From Jump Festa Released

Square Enix opened up the annual Jump Festa exposition with a brand new trailer for the forthcoming Final Fantasy XV. Jump Festa began in 2001, and is an annual party centered around anime and manga. Traditionally, a special item or episode made specifically for the convention is produced. It also serves as a gaming convention with an emphasis for Square Enix. This year, Square Enix decided to give fans a better look at what is in store for one of the most important Final Fantasy entries in the series.

The video above has a quite a few more details in it to keep gamers occupied with speculation. The video sets up the plot of Final Fantasy XV with more cinematics, a few new bits of gameplay, and a look at an old character who has gone a drastic change.

Final Fantasy has had a character named Cid in every core game since Final Fantasy II, and usually has a penchant for airships, machinery, or the odd bout in magical studies with a boss battle thrown in for good measure. While this trend continues in Final Fantasy XV, this version of Cid is now Cidney, and apparently was transplanted from the southern United States judging by her accent. She also has an outfit that would fit into a Dukes of Hazzard movie.

Other details emerged from an excellent transcript at Kotaku, which had a reporter on site for the reveal of the trailer by the director of Final Fantasy XV, Hajime Tabata. Other details included the ability to summon beings into battle and control them, such as Titan seen at the end of the trailer. Also, the ability to use Magic in the game is being given a shake down as in its current form; only the lead antagonist can use it, which is not working as planned. Traveling by train, cities with shops and hotels, day and night cycles, and other little tidbits were dolled out in the interview as well. Combined with other videos, including leaked videos such as the one the Inquisitr has reported on previously, fans will have plenty to chew on until the Final Fantasy XV release date.

The new Final Fantasy XV trailer did not give a concrete release date, but it is expected to be released by holiday 2015.
