WWE Tables, Ladders, And Chairs: How Could NXT R Evolution Change The Pay-Per-View?

WWE Tables, Ladders, and Chairs is tonight on pay-per-view, as well as the WWE Network, and hot on the heels of NXT R Evolution this passed Thursday, the question remains how the astronomical success of WWE’s supposed lesser counterpart could factor into the outcome of today’s event. Wrestlezone’s Mike Killam reports that according to a Reddit user who has some alleged inside access to the WWE locker room, the atmosphere this afternoon is at a fever pitch, with the overall feeling amongst the WWE locker room being that there is no way they were going to allow the NXT rookies show them up on the weekend of WWE’s final pay-per-view of the year.

Rumors have already been swirling about the possible return of Roman Reigns and/or Randy Orton, presumably to insert themselves into the main event situation between John Cena and Seth Rollins. They will compete in a Tables Match with the added stipulation that if Rollins is somehow able to put Cena through a table, Cena loses his WWE World Championship opportunity against Brock Lesnar. Reigns announced last month he’ll be making his return around mid-December, and both he and Orton have reason to return with Rollins as their target. With Rollins holding the Money in the Bank briefcase and two potential storylines ahead of him, there appears to be no reason for Cena not to win and go on to face Lesnar at the Royal Rumble.

Bray Wyatt and Dean Ambrose will attempt to steal the show in a traditional Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match — the pay-per-view’s signature match. The intensity has been appropriately ratcheted up between the two over the last few weeks, and with the added fire lit underneath them of the success of NXT R Evolution, this match should prove to be brutal. An interesting wrinkle here is that there seems to be strong rumor of a Wyatt versus Undertaker match at Wrestlemania 31. Typically, WWE waits until the “Road to Wrestlemania” has begun after the Royal Rumble to effect an Undertaker return, but with it being the final pay-per-view of the year and both men enjoying wild popularity, it would make sense for the Deadman to somehow factor into the finish.

One match that could be the sleeper of the entire show is WWE United States Champion Rusev defending against Jack Swagger. Being that we’ve seen this recently with Rusev dominating each match, there would seem to be little reason to be interested in this match. However, with Lana recently posting and then deleting a picture of a redesigned WWE European Championship, a title that was unified with the WWE Intercontinental Championship in 2002, it is likely Rusev retains and makes some interesting choices with his championship belt.

Many questions are left to be answered.

Will this be AJ Lee’s final WWE match, or will she regain the WWE Divas Championship?

Can Dolph Ziggler overcome Luke Harper in a Ladder Match to regain the WWE IC strap?

Given the recent involvement of Naomi into the Miz/Mizdow versus the Usos WWE Tag Team Championship match, as well as her dismissal from the cast of Total Divas, reported by PWInsider, could we eventually see Naomi reach for her own spotlight and turn heel on her husband, Jimmy, to join forces with Team Awesome?

And what about Sting?

By the time WWE Tables, Ladders, and Chairs is over, viewers should have a much clearer idea on where things are headed leading into the Royal Rumble, and maybe even start to get a feel for how Wrestlemania will start to take shape.

WWE Tables, Ladders, and Chairs is available on pay-per-view or the WWE Network for $9.99.
