WWE SummerSlam 2014 Prediction: No Contest For John Cena Vs. Brock Lesnar

WWE SummerSlam 2014 is now moments away, and headlining the card will be John Cena versus The Beast Incarnate himself, Brock Lesnar.

While many fans are expecting a clean Lesnar win over Cena and a build toward Roman Reigns versus Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 31, we’re going against the grain and calling this one a straight No Contest.

No way does John Cena lose the title Sunday night, but at the same time we can’t see it ending well for him either. Also, the WWE would be very foolish to stick with that Reigns and Lesnar main event at WrestleMania, especially since the entire internet is reporting it as if it were a foregone conclusion.

(Creatively bankrupt, to say the least.)

Furthermore, John Cena continues to be a big hit with the Make-A-Wish foundation and a superb ambassador for the company. Whether you cheer him or boo him, he’s one of the few bright spots that Stamford can lay claim to right now, so it wouldn’t make very much sense to shelve him at this point.

So would fans be disappointed by a No Contest at WWE SummerSlam 2014?

Oh, some would, but we’d be willing to say that it depends on how it’s handled. Going back to an old idea that we’ve kicked around here at The Inquisitr before, it would make more sense to have Brock turn out to be a paid mercenary with no interest in the WWE title, only injuring Cena for money.

Essentially, in this scenario, he’d be doing the work of The Authority so that their golden boy Seth Rollins can come in and take an easy victory. Except instead of having Rollins get that victory, have Dean Ambrose screw it up for him, attack, and then pull Cena on top for the win after Rollins cashes in his Money in the Bank contract.

This would keep the Ambrose-Rollins feud going, it would set up a second match with Brock Lesnar and John Cena further down the road, and it could build to a nice, uneasy reunion that ends with a triple threat match for the world title at WrestleMania 31, with the participants being Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns.

That’s a much better way of handling it in our opinion, and while it may not go down that way, we don’t see the belt leaving John Cena’s waist at WWE SummerSlam 2014.
