WWE News: Roman Reigns Could Make Leap To Superstardom At SummerSlam

The WWE news could be very good for Roman Reigns, who has been taking baby steps toward superstardom and might now be poised to take a big leap forward.

Reigns has the chance be one of the biggest players at Sunday’s SummerSlam pay-per-view event, taking on Randy Orton in a highly anticipated matchup. Many believe the match could be a make-or-break moment for Reigns, who will be featured for the first time since The Shield came falling apart back in June.

As Bleacher Report correspondent Sharon Glencross notes, Roman Reigns needs to stand out at SummerSlam if he is to continue his WWE asecension.

Glencross wrote:

“Orton is a former WWE champion, a respected veteran and one of the company’s biggest names. If Reigns can’t have a good feud with him—and churn out something decent at SummerSlam—then that will surely call into question whether he can ever make it as a maineventer.”

Some believe the WWE is already downplaying the Roman Reigns Randy Orton matchup. The two shared limited interaction on Monday’s episode of Raw, the last chance to build up hype for the match among viewers. Meanwhile, the WWE promoted just about every other feud, with competitors getting physical in the build-up to SummerSlam.

But others believe Roman Reigns is on the fast track to WWE stardom, regardless of the SummerSlam results. WWE rumors originally indicated that the WWE intended to give him a slow build up to WrestleMania 31, where he would win the WWE World Heavyweight Title and take over at the organization’s biggest star. But in light of the injury to Daniel Bryan and a vacuum left by the departure of star CM Punk, Reigns saw his rise to the top accelerated.

Whatever might happen, in appears Roman Reigns has his WWE future in his hands. Many believe that a strong performance at SummerSlam will immediately vault him to a status alongside John Cena and the top ranks of the WWE.
