Google Names New Financial Chief

Google has named a former Bell Canada exec as its new senior VP and CFO.

Patrick Pichette — most recently president of operations at Bell Canada — will join Google on the first of August and officially start overseeing the company’s finances about two weeks later.

Pichette’s background is largely in telecommunications, having worked previously with McKinsey & Company and Call-Net Enterprises. He’ll replace Google’s George Reyes, who announced his pending retirement last August. Interestingly, at the time, Google said it expected to have his successor on-board by the end of 2007.
