Fans can watch Australia vs. England cricket live online as the teams face off in a Boxing Day Test at the Ashes
Australia has already won the series between the teams 3-0 going into Thursday’s Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground, while England is looking to break through with its first win of the series.
While England may have had plans to get some of its younger players involved in the Boxing Day Test match against Australia, they are ultimately relying on some senior leadership in the match.
“It’s all well and good saying ‘the future, the future’, but you’ve got to believe those players are ready to play as well,” Alastair Cook said. “So there is a bit of a balancing act. We are so lucky with the support we’ve got, we owe it to them to try and put in a good performance.”
Fans who watch the Australia vs. England cricket Test live online will join the 90,000 expected to fill the stadium and millions more watching at home. Any idea that the match is meaningless is gone with England, with players committed to leaving the trip to Australia with a victory.
But it is still a different looking England squad, with Graeme Swann retiring before the contest.
Cook said he admired Swann’s decision to leave the game the way he did.
“Graeme gave up a lot for that England shirt and he had no more to give,” Cook said. “I thought it was a very brave decision. When somebody gives up playing for England it’s a huge decision. He’s only 34 in age but obviously speaking to him about his body and his mind, he said he had nothing more to give and he couldn’t do it any justice.”
